Description

The invention relates to a device for identifying motor vehicles, consisting of reading points arranged in a fixed manner along the traffic routes and response devices mounted on the motor vehicle.

Such devices have a wide range of applications. At toll booths, for example on motorways, in front of bridges and tunnels, the automatic identification of the motor vehicles, in addition to saving personnel, can significantly increase throughput. Such devices also have a corresponding meaning for the owners of closed motor vehicle fleets, namely the police, fire brigade, tank trucks, company vehicles and the like.

In previous identification systems, the reading point is either built into the road surface and the answering devices are accordingly attached under the vehicle, or the identification is carried out from the street side. In both variants, however, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. It is disadvantageous when installing the reading point in the carriageway that, due to the dampening effects of layers of water and snow, the carriageway limits information transmission from the outset to the low NHz or kHZ frequency range. Due to high installation and maintenance costs, the economic effort is also considerable. In addition, the transponder can be placed on the vehicle side damaged or its function impaired by dirt.

In identification systems with reading points and answering devices arranged on the side, considerable problems arise, particularly on multi-lane roads, because they are covered by neighboring vehicles. It is also difficult to attach the responder to the motor vehicle side, which is also at risk due to possible mechanical damage and interference by third parties.

The invention has for its object to provide a device for identifying vehicles that avoids the disadvantages listed above.

This object is achieved according to the invention in such a way that the reading points above the road, for example on passageways, bridges or light poles, are attached with a radiation direction extending vertically downwards or obliquely to the front and that the responder is in each case inside the vehicle on the windshield (windscreen ), on the rear-view mirror or another place that can be easily grasped from above or from the front by the reading point.

The answering device advantageously has a very flat embodiment (<10 mm) and is glued to the inside of the windshield. On the one hand, this can reduce disturbing reflections on the glass pane at transmission frequencies above 1 GHz to a minimum, on the other hand, the device can be designed in such a way that non-destructive disassembly by unauthorized persons is not possible, which represents an additional anti-theft device.

In an advantageous development of the subject of the application, it is provided that the answering device contains information carriers in the form of code cards which are advantageously designed to be exchangeable. By inserting an additional information carrier, the information carrier part of the answer can thus device can be changed. The code cards, for example punch cards, magnetic cards or cards with semiconductor memories, allow the authorized person to set the answering device in a clear manner. This prevents misuse of the vehicle. If the response device intervenes in the ignition circuit of the vehicle, the code card can serve as an anti-theft device for the motor vehicle. In combination with the anti-theft security of the answering device, the code card is a forgery-proof indicator.

In an advantageous further development of the subject of the application, it is further provided that the information content of the responder can be remotely adjusted electronically by applying control voltages. With this e.g. a code known only to the driver can be entered using a keyboard on the dashboard. This remote-controllable answering device can also be connected to the ignition lock of the vehicle, whereby it can either only be activated or set remotely using the combination of the keys. This also provides additional anti-theft protection for the vehicle.

The invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of exemplary embodiments illustrated in the drawing.

  • Fig. 3 und 4 Ausführungsformen und Befestigung des Antwortgerätes im Fahrzeug.
Show it
  • 1 and 2, two embodiments for the attachment of the reading points above the road,
  • 3 and 4 embodiments and attachment of the responder in the vehicle.

In der Figur ist ein solches Antwortgerät 5 beim Fahrzeug in der rechten Fahrspur und bei den Fahrzeugen der Gegenfahrbahn erkennbar.1 shows a passage for motor vehicles, for example a toll or customs office, in which a roof is provided which extends over all lanes. On the front side of the roof 1, reading points 2 are attached to the oncoming vehicles in the direction of the arriving vehicles each above the individual lanes with the beam direction obliquely forward. From the reading points 2 the information of the answering devices 5 of the Vehicles 3 detected. Such a response device 5 can be seen in the figure in the vehicle in the right lane and in the vehicles in the opposite lane.

Eine Verbindungsleitung 8 führt zu einer Zentrale, ineder die Informationen der Lesestellen ausgewertet werden.2 shows, as a further possibility of arranging reading points, a bridge 7 which extends over a wide carriageway with several lanes. On the side of the bridge facing the incoming traffic, reading points 2 are attached above the individual lanes and radiate vertically downwards. The reading points arranged above the right side of the lane, i.e. the reading points facing the viewer in the picture, are connected by solid drawn lines, the reading points arranged above the left side of the lane, i.e. reading points that detect oncoming traffic, are connected by dashed lines. A connecting line 8 leads to a center in which the information from the reading points is evaluated.

When reading points are installed above the carriageway, there is the possibility of detecting vehicles that are not equipped with answering devices or whose answering device is defective with a slightly expanded reading system, e.g. by measuring the change in reflection factor or the Doppler effect.

Die Montage erfolgt dabei, um Sichtbehinderung zu vermeiden, oben hinter dem Rückspiegel oder in einer der Ecken der Windschutzscheibe.3 shows the attachment of the answering device in a vehicle, truck and one, namely on the windshield 4 of a car 3 shown in the side view and in the top view. The answering device 5 is designed to be extremely flat and on the inside of the front windshield ( Windscreen) glued on. To avoid obstruction, the assembly is carried out at the top behind the rear view mirror or in one of the corners of the windshield.

Fig. 4 shows the assembly of the answering device 5 on the inner rear view mirror 6 of the vehicle, specifically on the holding rod. An extremely thin version of a responder can also be attached to the rear of the inside mirror, in particular glued on, as described above in the embodiment of the responder attached to the windshield.

The transponder can also be placed in the dashboard. In this case, the associated antenna is advantageously applied to the front windshield. This can be designed, for example, as an adhesive film.
