Abstract

The present invention relates to the removal of organic matter and arsenic from natural water using aluminum and silica polymers, in particular, the purification of raw water with a high content of humic substances and arsenic under extremely unfavorable purification conditions, such as high ionic strength and low temperatures. With the help of an innovative improved purification technology disclosed in this patent, humus substances and arsenic are removed, and already at the stage of coagulation and sediment separation a standard of drinking water quality is provided with an exceptionally high content of humus substances, for example, in raw water from a water source in Zrenyanin at a consumption of KMnO more than 50 mg / dmi total content of As over 0,100 mg / dm. With a high content of various arsenic compounds in raw water, alone or in combination with a high content of humic substances, their removal is required using the most appropriate technical, economic and environmental solutions. Through the use of innovative technology, the most optimal conditions for the simultaneous removal of both types of pollution from raw water were achieved. The method itself includes optimization of the purification conditions: by neutralizing the charge of humus molecules, ensuring the optimum pH and dosages of inorganic polymers and their ratios under appropriate energy conditions for flocculation and further by applying various separation processes, i.e. either classical separation systems (sedimentation or flotation by filtration through sand) or membrane separation processes.
