Abstract

The invention relates to the field of water supply, specifically to compositions used for purifying and disinfecting water which is primarily intended for use as domestic drinking water. The composition comprises, as components, an aluminium-containing coagulant and polyhexamethyleneguanidine (PHMG), wherein the coagulant used is aluminium polyoxychloride with 4-12 wt.%, preferably 10±2 wt.% expressed as aluminium oxide. The invention provides stable and reliable purification and disinfection of water regardless seasonal changes in feed water quality.
