Abstract
An agent for protection of a material against water infiltration consists of a gel composition based on a water-absorbing polymer in the form of a hydrocarbon skeleton with anion groups connected to it. This gel composition is activated by moisture, so that the water- absorbing agent migrates to absorb the water. The agent can protect conduits carrying low direct current, and repair short circuits produced by moisture in such conduits. The agent can contain an adhesive, which can produce a mixture for sticking to the surface.
