Abstract

Method for recovery of a perfluorated sulphonic acid in anhydrous form from an aqueous solution containing the acid in hydrate-form, the method being characterized in that a weak base in the form of a soluble salt of the acid is added to the acidic solution; the solution containing acid hydrate and salt of the acid is concentrated into a substantially anhydrous acid hydrate salt mixture; and finally the acid is recovered in anhydrous form by distilling from the mixture as well as possibly recirculating remaining amounts of the acid-hydrate-salt mixture from the distillation step to the salt addition step.
