Abstract

A mechanically cleaned grid for the removal of coarse particles from polluted liquids comprises a grid placed over a moveable grate with wedge-shaped teeth. The teeth of the rake are guided in between the bars of the grid so that the wedge-shaped part of the teeth is located between the grid bars. The rake is then brought up with the teeth in constant engagement until the top position is reached. In this position the teeth of the rake are right above the grid bars, the latter describing a change of direction to downward inclined. During the travel of the rake from the bottom to the top position, the wedge-shaped teeth will expel the jammed particles from the grid bars and transport them to the down-shaft. The travel of the rake from the top position to the bottom position occurs with the teeth of the rake in the retracted position. <IMAGE>
