In recent years, fluid-bed systems have attracted particular interest in connection with solid-fired combustion installations, because better combustion can be achieved in a number of respects than is possible with conventional combustion installations. These advantages are compromised by the fact that known fluid-bed reactors cannot operate entirely satisfactorily with a part load and that load regulation can only be carried out very slowly.
