Abstract

For packing moist, in particular soft items, in particular giblets from poultry, in particular chickens, between two plastic foils while welding these together into bags 71 containing the items 61, 62, 63, a method is disclosed for the provision of bag sizes being variable and adapted to the quantity of contents. Reference being made to a packing machine for use in working the method, said method consists in that two plastic foil webs are conveyed in parallel from stores 69; 70 by means of drive means 89, 87, 100; 90, 88, 101 and between two jaws 1; 2 which are welding jaws and are placed movable against each other and away from each other, and that the items 61, 62, 63 by means of positioning means or by simple dropping are placed between the two plastic foil webs 65; 66, and where, following welding of the foil webs 65; 66, the jaws 1; 2 are brought from closed to open condition, Fig. 1, whereby a detection means exclusively intended for contents-detecting of items 61 in the bags provides conveying of foil at a length, in the direction of the foil web, corresponding to the contents length of items 61 in a bag being just filled plus the length of two transverse bag welding seams, also in the direction of the foil web, plus a further length, possibly controllable in dependency of the filling quantity, where said latter length may be zero, followed by a new closing of the welding jaws 1; 2, and where a cutting means 17, 18 provides a cutting of the plastic foil webs 65; 66 between two in the longitudinal direction of foil web consecutive contents quantities of items 44. <IMAGE>
