Abstract

A slide sheet has a friction part 1, which is made of friction material (the coefficient of friction is approximately the same as for a normal sheet material) and a sliding part 2, which is made of a material with a low coefficient of friction and is situated under the centre of the patient when the latter is lying on their back on the bed. When the slide sheet is arranged on the bed, an area of the friction part 1 with a width of 5 to 15 cm is left along each of the edges of the bed and on both sides of the slide part. These areas of the friction part prevent the patient from slipping down off the bed, and where required the patient can also achieve a supporting grip with the hands in order, for example, to turn over on the bed or to raise himself or herself up from the bed. The object of the slide sheet is to facilitate handling on the bed of patients in a weak condition or with impaired capacity for movement. When the slide part 2 is under the centre of gravity of the patient it is easier to turn the patient on the bed and to raise the patient from the bed than with the use of a normal sheet. <IMAGE>
