Abstract

A roof construction, especially for skylights, in which glass plates are supported in a metal frame construction. The frame construction has rafters 18, which extend between a head 12 and a sill 14, and purlins 20, which connect the rafters 18. In each of these elongated construction elements there are configured open-ended drains, of which the drains in the construction elements, such as the purlins 20 and rafters 18, which rest on other, bearing construction elements, such as the head 12 and sill 14 and rafters 18 respectively, emerge with their open ends over the drains in these bearing construction elements, such that water which might gather in the supported construction elements can run down into the drains in the bearing construction elements. The construction elements are mutually connected by clamping or holding members, which fit into recesses in the side walls of the bearing construction elements and enclose the end part of each supported construction element which extends in over and is supported by a bearing construction element. The mutually crossing construction elements have flanges which, when tightened with screws 30, are pressed together around an intermediate packing. The screws pass through pressure plates 35 which, upon tightening, are pressed down against packings along the edges of gas plates which are supported by flanges or supporting elements 24 on the elongated construction elements. <IMAGE>
