Abstract

A transmission to a cordfree pager comprises "label", "address" and "message" signals, preferably in that order. The pager stores the label and message signals in push registers 16, 18 and if the correct address is detected by the comparison circuit 12 the stored label signal is compared with previously received label signals which are stored in a label store 22. If the label comparison finds that the message (and the associated label) has already been received and that the fault-finding procedures show that errors are to be found in the received signal, a message combination circuit 28 pieces together a correct message signal from suitable parts of the appropriate received and stored message signals, which corrected signal is thereafter stored in the correct place in the message store 24. If the label comparison finds that the message (and associated label) have not previously been received, the message signal is stored in the message store 24 and the label signal is stored in the corresponding part of the label store 22. <IMAGE>
