Abstract

In a process for separating off oleic acid from a feed mixture containing oleic acid and linoleic acid, the mixture is brought, under separation conditions, into contact with a molecular sieve comprising silicalite, with the oleic acid being retained selectively. The oleic acid can be recovered from the molecular sieve by displacing with a displacing fluid. The feed mixture may also contain resin acids, in which case a first molecular sieve comprising silicalite is used for separating the fatty acids from the resin acid. Preference is given to the displacing fluid comprising a liquid which has a minimal polarity index and to the molecular sieve comprising silicalite which is dispersed in silicon dioxide matrix.
