Abstract

In a teletext system, with a view to making possible "pagination" of programme overviews for various transmission days without there having to be considerable investment in teletext decoders on the receiver side, it is proposed to set up in table form on a separate teletext page the page numbers for the total number of teletext pages in a repeat cycle or in a part thereof and to enter them in an intermediate store on the receiver side. If the user has selected a particular teletext page, a check is carried out whether the number of the required teletext page is in the cycle or in a part thereof, by comparison with the page numbers which have been entered in the intermediate store, after which this page is looked for, if necessary. In addition on the basis of the number of the required teletext page and by renewed comparison with the page numbers in the intermediate store the decoder checks automatically whether the numbers of the subsequent teletext pages are in the cycle or in a part of this, after which there is a searching for the subsequent pages which have been identified as being present in the cycle, which pages are entered in the intermediate store and reproduced in accordance with special instructions from the user. <IMAGE>
