Abstract

A collapsible lightweight display rack is constructed from mutually supporting modules of linked rods, each module being formed as a boxlike frame with opposite vertical modular surfaces for hanging up plates and with horizontal and vertical side surfaces 1-4, each one formed by two scissors-linked rods 1a, 1b.4a, 4b, whose ends are hinged to corner connection elements 5-8, 9-12 situated at the two modular surfaces. A central connecting element 13 in the module is connected to the four corner connecting elements 9-12 at one modular surface via diagonal rods 14-17, which are linked by diagonal rods 22-25 to the corner connection elements 5-8 of the other modular surface. The corner connection elements of the modular surfaces are correspondingly connected by central connection elements in neighbouring modules, and between a pair of corner connection elements one above the other there is a detachable locking element 27 for making a connection in the deployed position of the rack. In order to enable hanging of plates on both sides of the rack under all circumstances and to construct racks with variable basic shapes with the identical modular configuration, all the pipe pieces, connecting elements and locking elements in each module in the rack's deployed position are situated in their entirety between the modular surfaces with all linking connections situated in a vertical centre plane between the modular surfaces, and the module is formed with trapezoidal horizontal cross section. <IMAGE>
