Abstract

The present invention relates to a display unit comprising a) a frame with a front side, a back side, and side edges; b) an inner insert plate or canvas with a front side, and a back side and adapted for releasably fastening within said frame; and c) a first outer canvas with a front side and a back side. The first outer canvas is adapted for releasably fastening to the front side of said frame in front of said inner insert plate or canvas, and with one or more bands attached to its back side. The front side of said frame comprises i) a ring shaped recess adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or ii) one or more pairs of opposing recesses adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said first outer canvas to the front side of said frame.

Background of the invention In the field of both indoor and outdoor advertising, it is an ongoing challenge to expand existing and identify new venues of advertising. The subject of such advertising may range from purely commercial messages, trademarks, logos, and the like to public service messages, directions, and warnings. Virtually any surface in the public environment may become a backdrop for affixing or decorating an advertising display. The backdrop may be natural, such as trees, or rock formations; or artificial, such as the exterior walls of buildings or bridges, the familiar billboard, free-standing signs, and postings in store windows.

However, it is problematic to find new suitable backdrops having the perfect position, and it is expensive to replace existing displays each time a new campaign is launched.

Description of the invention The purpose of the present invention is to provide a versatile display unit that solves the above-mentioned problems. A first aspect relates to a display unit comprising: - a frame with a front side, a back side, and side edges; - an inner insert plate or canvas with a front side, and a back side and adapted for releasably fastening within said frame; and - a first outer canvas with a front side and a back side; wherein said first outer canvas is adapted for releasably fastening to the front

DK 2020 01279 A1 2 side of said frame in front of said inner insert plate or canvas, and with one or more bands attached to its back side; wherein the front side of said frame comprises a) a ring shaped recess adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or b) one or more pairs of opposing recesses adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said first outer canvas to the front side of said frame. The bands are preferably elastic, such as rubber or other types of elastic polymer, but could also be rigid, such as hard plastic or metal. The bands could be of any suitable length and thickness. What is important is that they function as anchors fitting into the recesses of the frame.

The display unit comprises several possibilities for using the same unit for advertising or providing information. The inner insert plate or canvas can e.g.

hold an advertisement or information for general use, such as for a prolonged time. In some embodiments, the inner insert plate or canvas may hold advertisement or information on both the front and the back side. The first outer canvas can then be used for advertisement or information used for shorter periods and are easily replaced due to the fastening mechanism to the front side of the frame. In other embodiments, the first outer canvas may be used in combination with the inner insert plate or canvas to provide a single advertisement or information, e.g. by providing a three-dimensional effect.

As used herein, the term “canvas” is meant to include printable materials capable of displaying a customized user image, including but not limited to universal matte canvas, fabric, wallpaper, poster board, paper, laminate, film or transparent film. In some embodiments, the outer canvas is made of an elastic material. This configuration allows for an easier insertion of the bands into the recesses of the frame. The elasticity can be a function of the material used, such as an elastic film or fabric. The way a fabric is woven may also induce elasticity to the canvas.

DK 2020 01279 A1 3 In one or more embodiments, the display unit further comprises a second outer canvas with a front side and a back side; wherein said second outer canvas is adapted for releasably fastening to the back side of said frame in front of said inner insert plate or canvas, and with one or more bands attached to its back side; wherein the back side of said frame comprises a) a ring shaped recess adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or b) one or more pairs of opposing recesses adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said second outer canvas to the front side of said frame. This configuration increases the use of the display unit to both sides, such that e.g. one type of advertisement or information may be used on the front of the display unit, while another type of advertisement or information may be communicated on the back side of the display unit. The second outer canvas can be used for advertisement or information used for shorter periods and are easily replaced due to the fastening mechanism to the back side of the frame. In other embodiments, the second outer canvas may be used in combination with the inner insert plate or canvas to provide a single advertisement or information, e.g. by providing a three-dimensional effect.

In one or more embodiments, the first and/or second outer canvases are configured with cut-outs, thereby allowing a part of the inner insert plate or canvas to be visible therethrough. This configuration allows for using the outer canvases in combination with the inner insert plate or canvas to provide a single advertisement or information, e.g. by providing a three-dimensional effect. In one or more embodiments, the first and/or second outer canvases comprises two or more subunits, each subunit comprising one or more bands attached to its back side, wherein each subunit is independent of the other subunits, thereby allowing a user to remove one or more of said subunits from said frame to change the overall appearance of said display unit.

In one or more embodiments, the frame is rectangular or polygonal, and wherein the front side of said frame comprises two or more pairs of opposing recesses adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said first outer canvas to the front side of said frame.

In one or more embodiments, the inner insert plate or canvas comprises one or more bands attached to its back side, wherein the front side of said frame comprises c) a ring shaped recess of a second type adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or d) one or more pairs of opposing recesses of a second type adapted for receiving the one or more bands attached to said inner insert plate or canvas, thereby releasably fastening said inner insert plate or canvas to the front side of said frame.

In one or more embodiments, the frame is configured as a profile. The term “profile” here refers to an elongate, continuous and stable structural element, which has the same cross-sectional shape in all parallel cross sections between its ends. The length of each profile corresponds to the length or height, respectively, of the fabric sign. The profiles are generally manufactured by means of extrusion. However, they may also be manufactured by bending a rigid sheet billet. As used in the specification and the appended claims, the singular forms "a", "an", and "the" include plural referents unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Ranges may be expressed herein as from "about" or "approximately" one particular value and/or to "about" or "approximately" another particular value. When such a range is expressed, another embodiment includes from the one particular value and/or to the other particular value. Similarly, when values are expressed as approximations, by use of the antecedent "about", it will be understood that the particular value forms another embodiment.

Detailed description of the invention The following description is to be seen as a non-limiting example of a display unit according to various embodiments of the present invention.

Figure 1 shows a display unit 100 according to various embodiments of the present invention. The display unit 100 comprises a frame 110, here shown from the front side, an inner insert plate 120 adapted for releasably fastening within the frame 110, and an outer canvas 130. The outer canvas 130 is adapted for releasably fastening (here shown with a corner released) to the front side of the frame 110 in front of the inner insert plate 120. The fastening mechanism is illustrated in Figures 2-4 as a non-limiting example. Figure 2 shows a part of an exemplary outer canvas 130 seen from its back side 132. Here it can be seen that, except from the corners, elastic bands 134 are sewn onto the edges of the back side 132. Figure 3 shows a part of an outer canvas according to various

The front side of the frame 110 is shown comprising a ring-shaped recess 112 adapted for receiving the outer canvas’ elastic bands.

The frame 110 is strengthened with an angle bracket 116. The frame also comprises a part of a hook-and-loop fastener 114 for releasably fastening the inner insert plate (not shown) to the frame 110. An alternative to such a fastening mechanism may be seen in Figure 4, where the frame 110 is configured as a profile with recesses 112, 118 for the outer canvases elastic bands as well as further recesses 115, 117 for different configurations of inner insert plates or canvasses.

As an example, the inner insert plate or canvas comprises one or more elastic bands attached to its back side.

The front side of the frame 110 may then comprise a recess 115 as disclosed in Figure 4. This recess is adapted for receiving the elastic bands of the inner insert plate.

Figure 5 shows a display unit according to various embodiments of the present invention.

Here, the outer canvas comprises three subunits 130A,B,C.

Each subunit 130A,B,C comprises one or more elastic bands attached to its back side, and is independent of the other subunits.

This configuration allows a user to remove one, two, or all three of the subunits 130A,B,C from the frame 110 to change the overall appearance of the display unit 100.

1. A display unit (100) comprising: - a frame (110) with a front side, a back side, and side edges; - an inner insert plate or canvas (120) with a front side, and a back side and adapted for releasably fastening within said frame (110); and - a first outer canvas (130) with a front side and a back side (132); wherein said first outer canvas (130) is adapted for releasably fastening to the front side of said frame (110) in front of said inner insert plate or canvas (120), and with one or more bands (134) attached to its back side (132); wherein the front side of said frame (110) comprises a) a ring shaped recess (112) adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or b) one or more pairs of opposing recesses adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said first outer canvas (130) to the front side of said frame (110).

The display unit (100) according to claim 1, further comprising a second outer canvas with a front side and a back side; wherein said second outer canvas is adapted for releasably fastening to the back side of said frame (110) in front of said inner insert plate or canvas, and with one or more bands attached to its back side; wherein the back side of said frame (110) comprises a) a ring shaped recess (118) adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or b) one or more pairs of opposing recesses adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said second outer canvas to the front side of said frame (110).

3. The display unit (100) according to any one of the claims 1-2, wherein the first (130) and/or second outer canvases is configured with cut-outs, thereby allowing a part of the inner insert plate or canvas (120) to be visible therethrough.

4. The display unit (100) according to any one of the claims 1-3, wherein the first

The display unit (100) according to any one of the claims 1-4, wherein said frame (110) is circular or oval, wherein the front side of said frame (110) comprises a ring shaped recess adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said first outer canvas (130) to the front side of said frame (110).

The display unit (100) according to any one of the claims 1-4, wherein said frame (110) is rectangular or polygonal, and wherein the front side of said frame (110) comprises two or more pairs of opposing recesses adapted for receiving said one or more bands, thereby releasably fastening said first outer canvas (130) to the front side of said frame (110).

The display unit (100) according to any one of the claims 1-6, wherein said inner insert plate or canvas (120) comprises one or more bands attached to its back side, wherein the front side of said frame (110) comprises c) a ring shaped recess of a second type (115) adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or d) one or more pairs of opposing recesses of a second type adapted for receiving the one or more bands attached to said inner insert plate or canvas (120), thereby releasably fastening said inner insert plate or canvas (120) to the front side of said frame (110).

The display unit (100) according to claim 8, wherein said inner insert plate or canvas comprises two or more subunits, each subunit comprising one or more bands attached to its back side, wherein each subunit is independent of the other subunits, thereby allowing a user to remove one or more of said subunits from

The display unit (100) according to any one of the claims 1-8, further comprising a second inner insert plate or canvas (120) comprising one or more bands attached to its back side, wherein the back side of said frame (110) comprises e) a ring shaped recess of a third type adapted for receiving said one or more bands, or f) one or more pairs of opposing recesses of a third type adapted for receiving the one or more bands attached to said second inner insert plate or canvas, thereby releasably fastening said second inner insert plate or canvas to the back side of said frame (110).

The display unit (100) according to claim 9, wherein said second inner insert plate or canvas comprises two or more subunits, each subunit comprising one or more bands attached to its back side, wherein each subunit is independent of the other subunits, thereby allowing a user to remove one or more of said subunits from said frame (110) to change the overall appearance of said display unit (100).
