Abstract

The present invention relates to a bed post for bunk and loft beds. The bed post comprises a bottom tube, an extension tube, a bed frame connecting tube, and a bed rail connecting tube. The tubes are connected in line by one or more elongate members adapted for being positioned within the channels of said tubes. The bed frame connecting tube comprises means for connecting a bed frame to the bed frame connecting tube.The present invention relates to a bed post for bunk and loft beds. The bed post includes a bottom tube, an extension tube, a bed frame connecting tube, and a bed rail connecting tube. The tubes are connected in line by one or more elongate members adapted for being positioned within the channels of said tubes. Background of the invention

It is an object of the present invention to provide a bunk and/or loft bed system that is easy to produce, easy to assembly, and easily convertible between a loft bed and a bunk bed.

Summary of the invention

The inventor of the present invention has provided a bed post capable of being used in all four corners of the bunk and/or loft bed system. Hence, no left and right bed posts need to be produced, and no mistakes can be made during assembly. The bed post configuration is very suitable for packaging and transportation, and is very simple to assemble. Furthermore, the extension tube makes it possible to adjust the bunk or loft bed to any ceiling height of a bedroom.

A first aspect of the present invention relates to a bed post for bunk and loft beds, the bed post comprising:

- a bottom tube;

- an extension tube;

- a bed frame connecting tube; and

- a bed rail connecting tube;

wherein said tubes are connected in line by one or more elongate members adapted for being positioned within the channels of said tubes; wherein the bed frame connecting tube comprises means for connecting a bed frame to the bed frame connecting tube.

As used herein, the term “tube” includes tubes, which are cylindrical, square, triangular, and the like.

In one or more embodiments, the extension tube is positioned between the bottom tube and the bed frame connecting tube.

In one or more embodiments, an elongate member is positioned within the channels of the bottom tube, the extension tube, and the bed frame connecting tube, thereby connecting said tubes in line; wherein the elongate member and said tubes comprises bolt and/or screw holes adapted for receiving a bolt or screw for securing the elongate member to said tubes.

In one or more embodiments, the bottom tube comprises means for connecting a bed frame to the bottom tube.

Brief description of the figures

Figure 1 shows a part of a loft bed with a bed post in accordance with various embodiments of the invention;

Detailed description of the invention

Figure 1 shows the general aspect of the invention. A part of a loft bed is shown with a bed post 100. The bed post 100 comprises a bottom tube 110, an extension tube 120, a bed frame connecting tube 130, and a bed rail connecting tube 140. The tubes 110, 120, 130, 140 are connected in line by two elongate members (not shown) adapted for being positioned within the channels of said tubes 110, 120, 130, 140. The bottom tube 110 is connected to a bottom frame 10; the bed frame connecting tube 130 is connected to the bed frame 20; and the bed rail connecting tube 140 is connected to the bed rail 30.

A first elongate member (not shown) is positioned within the channels of the bottom tube 110, the extension tube 120, and the bed frame connecting tube 130, thereby connecting said tubes 110, 120, 130 in line. Furthermore,

DK 2016 00644 A1 the elongate member provides a stabilizing core of the bed post. The elongate members and said tubes 110, 120, 130 comprises bolt or screw holes 160 (Figures 1 and 2) adapted for receiving a bolt or screw for securing the elongate member to said tubes 110, 120, 130.

A second elongate member (150, Figures 2+3) is positioned within the channels of the bed frame connecting tube 130 and the bed rail connecting tube 140, thereby connecting said tubes 130, 140 in line. The elongate member and said tubes 130, 140 comprises bolt or screw holes 160 adapted for receiving a bolt or screw for securing the elongate member to said tubes 130, 140. This configuration of a bed post is very suitable for packaging and transportation, and is very simple to assemble. Furthermore, the extension tube makes it possible to adjust the bunk or loft bed to any ceiling height of a bedroom.

The bed frame connecting tube 130 comprises means 132 for connecting a bed frame to the bed frame connecting tube 130. In Figures 2+3, the means are shown as a supporting plate, where the bed frame panels are fastened with bolts or screws through the bolt or screw holes 160 (Figure 2)20

1. A bed post (100) for bunk and loft beds, the bed post (100) comprising:

- a bottom tube (110);

- an extension tube (120);

- a bed frame connecting tube (130); and

- a bed rail connecting tube (140);

wherein said tubes (110, 120, 130, 140) are connected in line by one or more elongate members (150) adapted for being positioned within the channels of said tubes (110, 120, 130, 140);

wherein the bed frame connecting tube (130) comprises means (132) for connecting a bed frame to the bed frame connecting tube (130).

A bed post (100) according to any one of the claims 1 -2, wherein an elongate member (150) is positioned within the channels of the bottom tube (110), the extension tube (120), and the bed frame connecting tube (130), thereby connecting said tubes (110,120, 130) in line; wherein the elongate member (150), the bottom tube (110), and the bed frame connecting tube (130) comprises bolt and/or screw holes (160) adapted for receiving a bolt or screw for securing the elongate member (150) to the bottom tube (110),
