Abstract

In order to prevent a burglar to escape through a window during an attempt to do a rubbery, the invention suggests a window latch consisting of housing (3) mounted on a window frame (18, 19, 19a, 19c) or a mullion (2, 20) or a transome (19b) and a bracket (12) mounted on a window sash (1, 23b, 23c). The housing accommodates a bolt (6) that is slideable in a channel (13) in the housing, where the housing has a hole (10) for receiving the bracket (12). In an embodiment the bracket abuts the bottom. The hole (10) has an axis that is perpendicular to the axis of the bolt (6). In an embodiment the windows latch is operated through a coding system consisting of a plurality of collars (8) with slots that fits to spigots on the bolt (6). The advantage of the invention is that it is extremely difficult to open the latch with tools normally available to burglars.

Description

Claims (12)

Window latch consisting of a housing (3) having a bottom (3a,3b), said housing is mounted on a window frame (18, 19, 19a, 19c) or on a mullion (2, 20) or on a transome (19b) or on a window sash (1, 23b, 23c) and a bracket (12) mounted on a window frame (18, 19, 19a, 19c) or on a mullion (2, 20) or on a transome (19b) or on a window sash, where the housing (3) has a longitudinal channel (13) accommodating a moveable bolt (6) adapted to engage a hole (11) in the bracket thereby locking the bolt (6) to the bracket (12), characterized in that the housing (3) has a hole (10) adapted to receive the bracket, or that the bracket abuts the bottom (3b).

11. Window latch according to claim 1 - 10, characterized in that the bracket has a bending of 90°.
