Abstract

The present invention relates to a tubular building structure (1) adapted to carry a structural component fastened thereto via a horizontally extending flange (2). The flange (2) is fastened to the tubular building structure (1) by use of mechanical fastening means, such as screws or boits. Such a tubular building structure may e.g. be a wind turbine tower, and the flange may be a top flange adapted to carry e.g. a yawing ring of the wind turbine. The invention further relates to a method of manufacturing such a tubular building structure (1). Such a method may further comprise one or more of the following steps: casting or flame cutting the flange (2) as one piece, face milling the flange (2), and drilling holes (5) in the flange (2) for fastening the flange (2) to the tubular building structure (1) and for fastening the structural component to the flange (2).

Claims (10)

1. Tubular building structure adapted to carry a structural component fastened thereto via a horizontally extending flange, wherein the flange is fastened to the tubular building structure by use of mechanical fastening means.
2. Tubular building structure according to claim 1, wherein the flange is annular and fastened at the circumference of the tubular building structure.
3. Tubular building structure according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the flange has been made as one piece before being mounted to the tubular building structure.
4. Tubular building according to any of the preceding claims, further comprising a base section which is a horizontally extending base flange, wherein the tubular building structure is fastened to the base flange by use of mechanical fastening means.
5. Tubular building structure according to claim 4, wherein the base flange is assembled from a plurality of base flange segments.
6. Tubular building structure according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the tubular building structure is a wind turbine tower.
7. Tubular building structure according to claim 6, wherein the flange is a top flange of the wind turbine tower.
8. Wind turbine comprising a tubular building structure according to any of claims 1 to 7.
9. Method of manufacturing a tubular building structure adapted to carry a structural component fastened thereto via a horizontally extending flange, the method comprising fastening the flange to the tubular building structure by mechanical fastening means.
10. Method according to claim 9 and further comprising one or more of the following steps: - casting or flame cutting the flange as one piece - face milling the flange, and - drilling holes in the flange for fastening the flange to the tubular building structure and for fastening the structural component to the flange.
