Abstract

The multi-piston pump has differential pistons (A,B,C) and on the high pressure side moderately constant output pressure is produced, such as for water spraying purposes,of several thousand bar from a much lower drive pressure. High pressure pumping is effected wholly separately, with total separation between drive medium and pump medium. - The input and output passages of the return-moving drive medium are so throttled that the return movement occurs quickly but a little more quickly than the work position of the pistons in parallel cylinders.

Description

PATENTKRAV: 1. Pressure-boosting freestanding pump of the type containing a plurality of freestanding and differential piston type pistons operating in respective cylinder bores having a wide end portion cooperating with a drive piston member which can be actuated by means of a propellant medium pressure to perform a working stroke and a return stroke by introducing a propellant into a working pressure chamber and a return pressure chamber, respectively, whereby a connected, narrower high-pressure piston part in a correspondingly narrow end portion of the cylinder bore can be reciprocated as a pump piston to produce a high-pressure pumping of a pump medium, are designed with such recessed recesses 8 that, in connection with respective inlet and outlet openings, these may act as sliding valve connections between a permanently open intermediate connection for another cylinder to another cylinder's pressure chamber and an inlet opening for drive medium and outlet outlet respectively. return drive medium, while the pistons are actuated for return upon introduction of propellant into the respective return pressure chambers, such that each piston acts as a pilot valve for actuation of an operative next piston to continuously actuate the pistons to allow an approximately constant discharge pressure of the high pressure side, characterized in that the return of the pistons is controlled in such a way that the return takes place a little faster than the working strokes, thereby obtaining overlapped working strokes. Hydraulic piston pump (1st version) according to claim 1, characterized in that the return chambers (26) are connected to a common return medium source through a flow limiting constant flow valve (32) and to a return medium outlet through a pressure control valve (36). Hydraulic piston pump (2nd version) according to claim 1, characterized in that the driving medium and pump medium are separated and that a flow limiting constant flow valve is included in the pump medium supply (54). Hydraulic piston pump according to claim 1, characterized in that the return of the pistons is controlled by a flow limiting device arranged in the outlet medium 20 for return medium or in the external return line connected to the connection 22. A hydraulic piston pump according to claim 2, characterized in that the return chambers (26) through a flow limiter is connected to a common return medium source of the hydrofoil type.
