Bag Holder and Bag Holder System Comprising It
Field of invention
The present invention relates to a bag holder and a bag holder system comprising it. The present invention more particularly relates to a bag holder configured to allow one handle loop to be suspended and one to be free.
Prior art
Shopping bags typically comprise two handle loops attached at opposite sides of the bag for holding the bags and facilitating the filling process. These loops are usually made of cord or plastic band. Bag boys or bag girls are often used to assist shoppers in packing their purchases into the shopping bags at the checkout stands. In order to eliminate the need for bag boys or bag girls, bag holders are often used. The prior art bag holders, however, do not allow the bags to be filled in a fast and efficient manner.
WO 2016/134003 Al, US 6,715,260 BI and JPH 8324519 describe bag dispenser systems for loading and singularly dispensing bags form a bag bundle, comprising a vertically oriented mounting plate and a Lshaped hook protruding perpendicularly from the mounting plate, whereby one handle of a bag can be mounted on the hook, while the other handle is loose enabling withdrawal and filling of the bag. However, the dispenser is not suited for several types of bags, e.g. bags with different lengths, and is not intended for a single bag.
JPH 880923 describes a bag holder system mounted at the end of the cash register. The system comprises a first bag holder having a hook and a support plate mounted on a tripod as well as another bag holder having a hook. The system is used for opening, securing and holding the bag, whereby the bag can be filled. However, the dispenser is not suited for several types of bags, e.g. bags with different lengths, and is not intended for a single bag.
Thus, there is a need for an improved bag holder which reduces or even eliminates the above-mentioned disadvantages of the prior art.
Summary of the invention
The object of the present invention can be achieved by a bag holder as defined in claim 1 and by a bag holder system as defined in claim 9. Preferred embodiments are defined in the dependent sub claims, explained in the following description and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
The bag holder is a bag holder for hanging a handle loop of a bag in order to facilitating the process of filling items into the bag, wherein the bag holder comprises an upright support structure configured to be attached to a base member, wherein the bag holder comprises one or more holding elements protruding from the support structure and being adapted to receive one handle loop of the bag while the other handle loop of the bag is free so that the bag can be fully opened and accessed, and wherein the bag holder comprises several holding elements attached in different vertical positions of the support structure.
Hereby, it is possible to provide an improved bag holder that can ease the filling process and allows a shopping bag to be filled in a fast and efficient manner without assistance from bag girls or bag boys.
The bag holder is a bag holder for hanging a handle loop of bags such as plastic shopping bags used in supermarkets and other shops provided with checkouts.
The bag holder is configured to facilitate the process of filling items into the bag by holding one handle loop while the remaining handle loop is free. Accordingly, the shopper can use one hand to hold the free handle loop and the other hand to fill items into the bag. Items may be any object (including goods such as groceries, cloth, hardware or tools) that can be received by the bag.
The bag holder comprises an upright support structure configured to be attached to a base member. The support structure may have any suitable geometry and size. The support structure may be formed from a plate, e.g. a metal plate, however, it is possible to use other materials including transparent materials like plastic or glass. The support structure may be constructed in a lattice structure or in a frame structure made by rod members or tubular structures.
The base member may be capable of receiving and supporting the bag.
The bag holder comprises one or more holding elements protruding from the support structure and being adapted to receive one handle loop of the bag while the other handle loop of the bag is free so that the bag can be fully opened and accessed.
The holding elements may have any suitable geometry and be made in any suitable material. It may be beneficial that the holding elements and the support structure are made in the same material. It is, however, possible that the holding elements are made in one material and that the support structure is made in another material.
It may be an advantage that the bag holder comprises one or more mounting members or mounting structures provided in the bottom end of the bag holder, wherein the one or more mounting members or mounting structures are configured to be attached to an underlying structure or a structure provided adjacent to the bag holder.
Hereby, it is possible to attach the bag holder to a base member (e.g. a base plate) or another suitable structure in order to arrange the bag holder in the most optimal position e.g. in the end area of a checkout.
The one or more mounting members or mounting structures may be formed as one or more plate-shaped structures e.g. provided with holes/bores for attaching the one or more mounting members or mounting structures to an underlying structure by means of screws or bolts.
It may be beneficial that the support structure is formed as a plateshaped member. The one or more mounting members or mounting structures may be formed as one or more plate-shaped structures e.g. provided with holes/bores for attaching the one or more mounting members or mounting structures to an underlying structure by means of screws or bolts.
It may be advantageous that the support structure is formed as a frame comprising two parallel rod members.
Hereby, it is possible to provide a simple, cost-efficient and compact (small-sized) support structure. The rod members may be made as solid rods or as hollow rods (tubular structures) in any suitable material e.g. metal (such as steel or aluminium) or plastic.
It may be an advantage that the two parallel rod members are connected by a top portion.
Hereby, it is possible to achieve a strong and stiff construction. The top portion may be made in any suitable material and have any suitable shape. It is by way of example possible to make the top portion as a straight or arced rod member, wherein the rod member is either solid or tubular (hollow).
It may be beneficial that the two parallel rod members are connected by an arced top portion.
It may be advantageous that the two parallel rod members are attached to a mounting structure provided with through-going bores/holes for attaching the bag holder to an underlying structure.
Hereby, it is possible to provide a compact bag holder that is configured to be attached to an underlying structure by means of screws, bolts or pop rivets.
It may be an advantage that the frame is symmetric with respect to the longitudinal axis of the support structure.
Hereby, the production process can be simplified because the frame may be constructed out of identical elements (e.g. two identical rod members).
It may be an advantage that the bag holder comprises two, three, four or more holding members evenly distributed and extending between the parallel rod members.
Hereby, it is possible to use the bag hanger to bags of different sizes (length).
It may be beneficial that one or more holding element is basically Lshaped or basically U-shaped.
Hereby it is possible to attach the holding element to the support structure in a manner in which the holding element is configured to receive and maintain a holding loop in engagement with the holding element. Moreover, removal of the handle loop is eased.
It may be an advantage that an area comprising a screen is provided at the top portion of the bag holder.
Hereby, the screen can be used to provide information to the shopper, e.g. information about prizes, closing times or other practical information.
It may be advantageous that one or more holding element comprises a plate member that extends basically parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bag holder.
Hereby, the plate member that extends basically parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bag holder can prevent the handle loop from leaving the holding element. At the same time, it is easy to remove the bag (handle loop) from the plate member that extends basically parallel to the longitudinal axis of the bag holder by moving the handle loop upwards vertically.
The bag holder comprises several holding elements attached in different vertical positions of the support structure.
Hereby, it is possible to use the same bag holder for bags of different sizes and/or shapes.
In one embodiment, the bag holder comprises holding elements of different sizes (width). Hereby, the bag handle can be used to bags having handle loops of different sizes and/or shapes.
It may be an advantage that the support structure extends vertically. Hereby, the size of the bag holder can be minimised.
It may be advantageous that the support structure is transparent. Hereby, it is possible to see through the support structure. This may be an advantage when the bag holder is used in stores and supermarkets.
It may be beneficial that the holding elements are transparent. Hereby, it is possible to see through the holding elements.
It may be an advantage that the bag holder comprises one or more reinforcement plates extending as side structures of the bag holder.
Hereby, the reinforcement plates can increase the stiffness and mechanical strength of the bag holder.
It may be beneficial that the holding elements are made by bending a plate-shaped structure originally arranged in the area in which apertures are provided.
It may be advantageous that the bag holder comprises a support plate configured to receive a bag being arranged on the support plate. Thereby, the support plate will function as a shelf.
Hereby, the bag can rest on the support plate while the bag is attached to the bag holder. A bag holder provided with a support plate configured to receive a bag being arranged on the support plate can be used when no support element for receiving the bag is provided.
It may be an advantage that the support plate has a longitudinal axis extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the support structure.
The support plate may be a plate with or without apertures. The support plate may be a lattice structure, a grating or a perforated structure.
The bag holder system according to the invention is a bag holder system comprising a bag holder according to the invention and a base element to which the bag holder is attached.
Hereby, it is possible to arrange a bag on the base element and hang one handle loop on one of the holding elements of the bag holder.
It may be beneficial that the base element is capable of receiving and supporting the bag, wherein the bag holder is directly or indirectly attached to the base element.
It may be beneficial that the base element is a plate.
Hereby, it is possible to provide a robust and reliable base element.
The base element may be a grate or a structure of suitable geometry.
It may be beneficial that the base element is directly or indirectly attached to or integrated in a checkout and that the bag holder is arranged to allow items approaching the end portion of the checkout to be filled into the bag when one and only one handle loop of the bag is suspended on one of the holding elements of the bag.
