Abstract

Previously unknown imidazole hydrazone and -hydrazine derivatives of the general formulae <IMAGE> in which Ar denotes phenylene or thienylene, each of which is optionally substituted by chlorine, Ar1 denotes phenyl which is optionally substituted 1-5 times by chlorine, and Alk denotes trimethylene or tetramethylene, or acid addition salts thereof, can be prepared by reacting ketones of the formula <IMAGE> in which Ar and Alk have the abovementioned meanings, with hydrazines of the formula <IMAGE> in which Ar1 has the abovementioned meaning, with the formation of compounds of the formula I, if desired as an acid addition salt, after which the product of the formula I is, where appropriate, reduced to a compound of the formula II. The imidazolehydrazone and -hydrazine derivatives of the formulae I and II are active against anaerobic bacteria and can be used in medicaments.
