Claims (19)
1. Computerimplementeret fremgangsmåde til lokalisering af ønskede data i en database (300-1) ved anvendelse af en omtrentligt ordnet afbildningstabel (400), hvilken fremgangsmåde omfatter den følgende sekvens af trin: opdeling af data i databasen (300-1) i en flerhed af extents (300-2) generering af omtrentligt ordnede afbildningsstatistikker om data, der er indeholdt i hver extent (300-2), hvor de omtrentligt ordnede afbildningsstatistikker omfatter ét eller flere områder med data, der er indeholdt i den respektive extent, hvor hvert af områderne består af en minimums- og en maksimumsværdi af ét attribut for dataene i den respektive extent, ved for alle extentsene at indsamle attributets minimums- og maksimumsværdi fra dataene i den respektive extent mærkning af hver extent (300-2) med den omtrentligt ordnede afbildningsstatistik om de data, der er indeholdt i den respektive extent, hvor de områder med data, der er knyttet til extentsene (300-2), er lagret i den omtrentligt ordnede afbildningstabel valg af én eller flere extents (300-2) for hvilke(n) de tilknyttede områder med data i det mindste delvist overlapper et dataområde for de ønskede data, baseret på minimums- og maksimumsværdien af de områder med data, der er lagret i den omtrentligt ordnede tabel, ved at slå op i den omtrentligt ordnede afbildningstabel for at bestemme et delsæt af extents, som kan indeholde de ønskede data, og søgning i de(n) valgte ene eller flere extents for at lokalisere de ønskede data.
2. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvorved området med data for hver extent omfatter ét eller flere områder med data baseret på ét eller flere attributter, og trinnet med at vælge én eller flere extents desuden omfatter: valg af én eller flere extents (300-2) baseret på af ét eller flere sæt af attributter, for hvilke tilknyttede områder med data i det mindste delvist overlapper et område med data for de ønskede data, ved anvendelse af et forud valgt sæt af dataattributter baseret på det ene eller de flere attributter, der er knyttet til extentsen (300-2) .
3. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 2, hvorved det ene eller de flere attributter er logisk ordnede, og trinnet med valg af én eller flere extents baseret på et forud valgt sæt af attributter desuden omfatter: valg af én eller flere extents (300-2) baseret på ét forud valgt sæt af attributter baseret på områder for disse attributter i en rækkefølge i overensstemmelse med en given logisk rækkefølge af attributterne.
4. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, der desuden omfatter opdatering af en extent-anmærkning for en extent, når der foretages ændringer i data, der er lagret i den extent (300-2) .
5. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvorved størrelserne af extentsene ikke er lig med hinanden.
6. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 2, der desuden omfatter valg af en passende størrelse for en bestemt extent baseret på en type attribut, som det tilknyttede område med data refererer til.
7. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvorved størrelserne af extentsene (300-2) er lig med hinanden.
8. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 7, der desuden omfatter dynamisk valg af en størrelse for extentsene (300-2) baseret på ændringer i en størrelse af databasen.
9. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvorved databasen er et materialiseret billede af en database.
10. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvorved en anmærkning på et område med data for en extent (300-2) co-lokaliseres fysisk med den extent.
11. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvorved de(n) valgte ene eller flere extents (300-2) udgøres af mærkede underextents, og trinnet med at søge de(n) valgte ene eller flere extents (300-2) desuden omfatter: valg af én eller flere underextents, for hvilke(n) tilknyttede områder med data kan indeholde de ønskede data, og søgning i de(n) valgte ene eller flere underextents for at lokalisere de ønskede data.
12. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 11, hvorved områder med data, der er knyttet til underextentsene, er baseret på ét eller flere attributter, der er forskellige fra de attributter, som er knyttet til områder med data, der er knyttet til extentsene (300-2).
13. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, hvorved databasen er en distribueret database, der er lagret på ét eller flere knudepunkter.
14. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 1, der desuden omfatter: bestemmelse af, om der skal oprettes mindst én omtrentligt ordnet afbildningstabel for et informationsrum i databasen.

Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 14, hvorved trinnet med at bestemme, om der skal oprettes mindst én omtrentligt ordnet afbildningstabel for det pågældende informationsrum, desuden omfatter. identificering af mindst ét kolonneindeks i informationsrummet som en kandidat til en omtrentlig ordnet afbildningstabel.
16. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 15, hvorved trinnet med at identificere mindst ét kolonneindeks som en kandidat til en omtrentlig ordnet afbildningstabel desuden omfatter: identificerng af mindst ét kandidat-kolonneindeks baseret på en tilknyttet type af kolonnedata.
17. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 14, der desuden omfatter: oprettelse af omtrentligt ordnede afbildninger for alle de identificerede kandidat-kolonneindekser.
18. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 14: hvorved trinnet med at bestemme, om der skal oprettes omtrentligt ordnede afbildningstabeller for det pågældende informationsrum, desuden omfatter. sammenligning af dataområder for extentsene i informationsrummet og bestemmelse af, om en mængde af overlapning mellem dataområder for extentsene i informationsrummet er tilstrækkeligt lille til at angive et behov for en omtrentligt ordnet afbildningstabel.
19. Fremgangsmåde ifølge krav 14, hvorved trinnet med at bestemme, om der skal oprettes omtrentligt ordnede afbildningstabeller for det pågældende informationsrum, desuden omfatter. bestemmelse af, om informationsrummet er tilstrækkeligt stort til at angive et behov for en omtrentligt ordnet afbildning.
