From the disclosure of English Patent No. 693,235 there is known a steel wire basket with side walls, bottom wall and top wall which can be folded together, the side walls being a collapsible pipe of steel wire mesh. The bottom wall and the top wall are hinged to each of the end edges of the tube.

Ω The bottom wall can be swung up and by means of hooks and locked to the pipe, so that a firm bottom is formed in the basket. The basket has no handles and is therefore, when folded up to its use position and possibly filled, difficult to transport.

It is an object of the invention to provide a basket of the above-mentioned type which is very simple and in the folded state sufficiently rigid to withstand stacking on top of other similar baskets, and which in addition in full condition is easy to transport.

The curve according to the invention is characterized in that the handle is made up of two handle parts located on the opposite bottom wall of the pipe, each having a handle hole, which handle parts are pivotally secured along parallel edges of the pipe and each has an area substantially corresponding to the illumination of the folded pipe. , so that the handle parts, when the basket is to be used for storage packaging, can be placed in a horizontal position, but, when the basket is to be used for transport, can be inclined so that they define a kind of "saddle handle" with handle holes in the top of the basket. This results in a basket which is extremely simple and easy to collapse (and thus save space) when the basket is left unused, and which is also suitably rigid when folded in use. Furthermore, the basket is very easy to transport due to the easily accessible handle at the top of the two "saddle handle" forming handle parts. The basket is particularly suitable for transporting beer and soda bottles. It is not a disposable packaging, but can be used many times. Typically, it can be used by customers in grocery stores who need to bring beer and sodas from the store to the home and empty bottles the opposite way.

In addition, according to the invention, the handle portions at opposite edges thereof, when the basket is in its transport position, may have cooperative projections and recesses. Thereby, the two handle parts are stabilized relative to each other, forming the aforementioned "saddle handle".

The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, in which FIG. 1 shows an embodiment of the curve according to the invention in a folded-up and side view; FIG. 2 is a similar view from the end, clearly showing the two handle forming wall pieces which are pivoted up to form a "saddle roof" on the basket; FIG. 3 is the same, the handle forming wall pieces being pivoted downwards in a horizontal plane; FIG. Fig. 4 is the same in collapsed state, with weight-saving holes being omitted; 5 shows a basket in the unfolded state immediately after injection molding, ie before the tube is formed; and FIG. 6 shows a basket similar to FIG. 1 and 2 filled with bottles and viewed in perspective, a user grasping the handle of the basket.

The FIG. 1 and 2, which are folded ready for transport, consist of a bottom wall 1, see fig. 2, and side walls, of which a long side wall 2a in FIG. 1 and a short side wall 2b of FIG. 2. There are a total of four side walls 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d. At the top are two wall pieces 4a and 4b, each having a handle hole 6, and these wall pieces are inclined and supporting one another to form a kind of "saddle roof".

The side walls 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d form a collapsible tube 15 which, when the basket is ready for transport, has a generally rectangular cross-section, as can be seen in FIG. 6. When the basket is collapsed and the tube is collapsed, it looks as shown in FIG. 4. The bottom wall 1 is pivotally secured to the lower edge of the side wall 2c by means of a hinge 10; the lower edge of the pipe, and the bottom wall can thereby be pivoted to close the bottom end of the pipe. When swung up, it will at least lock the lower end of the side wall 2a by means of locking pins and locking holes not shown.

The wall pieces 4a and 4b are pivotally fastened by means of hinges 11 and 12 along two parallel partial edges at the upper end of the pipe, and each wall piece has an area substantially corresponding to the illumination of the pipe. This can be seen in FIG. 3, where the wall pieces are swung down over some bottles 20 and 21 (to be transported) to the horizontal position. However, when the basket is to be transported, the wall pieces 4a and 4b will always be inclined so that they form the said "saddle roof". In FIG. 6, a user is seen carrying the basket, having slid some fingers through the two handle holes 6. The side walls 2a, 2b, 2c and 2d are rotatable relative to each other by corner hinges 13a, 13b, 13c and 13d which can be seen particularly clearly in FIG. 5. This figure shows all the parts of the basket as they appear immediately after injection molding in plastic. The short sidewall 2b is divided into two sidewall halves 2b 'and 2b ", which are then later joined together by welding, for example high frequency welding, or by gluing or mechanical interlocking to form a tube.

The basket can be molded in many different materials, however, best in plastic, preferably polyethylene or polypropylene.

In FIG. 1 and 2, see how the upper abutting edges of the wall pieces 4a and 4b interact, the wall piece 4b being provided with grooves, while the wall piece 4a has projections 40 which cooperate therewith.

In FIG. 2 shows how the bottom wall may have some hollow elevations 48a, 48b (usually eight such elevations) for controlling the bottoms of the bottles to be in the basket and for controlling the tops of the bottles which may be found in an underlying corresponding basket .

When many similar baskets are filled with bottles, see fig. 3, stacked on top of each other, it will be the bottles which are the supporting elements of the stack, not the basket material. It is here that the bottles have the same height.

The advantage of the basket according to the invention is, as mentioned above, that it is of extremely simple construction, is easy to collapse when it is not needed, and - when the need arises - is easy to fold up so that a rigid unit is formed, and is finally extremely easy to transport, holding it as in a bag or ordinary basket. The basket also enables stacking.
