Abstract

The invention relates to a fragmented cross-linked starch that has a limited swellability and that is available in the form of fragments of cross-linked starch grains with a particle size (weighted average) of the dry product in the range of from 1 to 1000 mu m. The swelling capacity of said fragments in water ranges between 15 to 2 and they are preferably ionized. The invention further relates to a method for producing fiber products such as wood fiber products, cellulose, mechanical wood products, recycling fiber materials and the mixtures thereof, paper, cardboards, wall papers, plastic fiber products and glass fiber products.
