Abstract

Following gaseous nitriding, the porous layer (7) is removed from surfaces of the tooth flanks by chemically-accelerated vibratory grinding in a special, acidified aqueous fluid. This contains a solids mixture including lightly abrasive ceramics. At the same time the surfaces are polished to a controlled, very smooth finish.
