Abstract
Alkali borosilicate glass comprises (in wt.%): 78.3-81.0 SiO2, 9.0-13.0 B2O3, 3.5-5.3 Al2O3, 3.5-6.5 Na2O, 0.3-2.0 K2O and 0-2.0 CaO. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of the alkali borosilicate glass, comprising forming a melt from the oxides and/or salts of Si, B, Al, Na, K and Ca, optionally refining, transferring the melt into a glass mold, and allowing to solidify. Preferred Features: The glass comprises (in wt.%) 78.3-80.5 SiO2, 9.0-12.5 B2O3, 3.7-4.9 Al2O3, 3.5-6.0 Na2O, 0.5-1.8 K2O and 0.2-1.8 CaO. The glass additionally contains 0.05-0.5 wt.% fluorine.
