Abstract

The invention relates to a process for recovering hydrocarbons from a mixture of air and hydrocarbon vapours which is emitted or displaced when filling crude oil into containers, for example on tanker ships, with the mixture being compressed in a compressor 2 and then being admixed with a part stream 5 of the supplied crude oil. According to the invention, the compressed mixture of air and hydrocarbon vapours is admixed with the crude oil part stream 5 under conditions where concomitant gas evolution is avoided, after which the crude oil path stream is detensioned in a degasser 10 and the degassed crude oil part stream 5, together with a residual content of compressed vapours, is conveyed to the main crude oil stream 6. The invention also relates to an installation for implementing the process. <IMAGE>
