Abstract

Part of fluid flowing in main pipe (3) is diverted and introduced into expansion vessel through inlet pipe (4). Fluid is withdrawn from expansion vessel and introduced through evacuation pipe (5) into main pipe downstream of inlet pipe water intake. Main pipe houses a valve (6) between water intake (A) of inlet pipe (4) and outlet (B) of evacuation pipe (5). Inlet pipe (4) also houses valve (7). Isolating valve (13) temporarily seals inlet and outlet pipes and purge tap (14) empties contents of vessel.
