A steam ironing apparatus is provided, comprising an ironing board (2) provided with a plurality of through holes (3), a chamber (4) whereinto the through holes open associated inferiorly to the ironing board and a pair of independent ventilators (6,7) able selectively to generate a positive pressure and a negative pressure in the chamber and presenting their respective fans positioned in a single conduit (8) in communication with the chamber itself. <IMAGE>
