Precipitated silica has a BET value of 25-350 m<2>/g, a CTAB value of 25-150 m<2>/g, a DBP absorbence of 150-300 g/100 g, a mean particle size of 5-20 mu m, a copper abrasion value of 1-20 mg in a 10 % glycerine dispersion, and a refraction index of 1.44-1.451.
