Abstract

In a continuously operated counter-current chromatography process, relative displacement between the adsorber, composed of a solid phase, and a liquid movable phase, in successively linked chromatography columns, is obtained by successively opening liquid inlets and outlets along the chromatography columns. Chiral polymers or chiral materials on an anorganic substrate are used as adsorbers. It is thus possible to separate an enantiomer mixture by means of continuous counter-current chromatography. Cross-linked pearl polymers produced from optically active acryl-methacryl-and alpha -fluoracrylamides have proved particularly useful as adsorbers.
