Abstract

A known water-collection tank for separating or unsticking surface coating agents has provision for an outflow-side cross-channel (8) to be connected to the said tank, which channel has an outflow slope (13) and a calming zone (10) with slowly flowing calming flow and a comparatively large depth. It is proposed to design the abovementioned cross-channel (8) not to be deep but rather, for the most part, to have an essentially horizontal flat flow section, in particular by arranging an intermediate floor. Due to the small depth, the fed-in particles of surface coating agent which contain air are held in the region of the surface of the water. The particles of surface coating agent which float up can be easily removed with simple, preferably mechanical means from the water which is then purified. <IMAGE>
