Abstract

A compensator for absorbing length changes in a pipeline which carries especially pressurised fluid contains a core (2), a piston (4) and a sleeve (6), there being a chamber (40), to which the pressure of the medium in the pipeline is applied, between the piston (4) and the sleeve (6). This compensator is intended to be developed to the effect that it can be constructed easily in pipelines having plastic pipes (12, 15) and ensures high operating reliability for a long life. It is proposed that, when constructing the plastic pipes (13, 15), the core (2), the piston (4) and the sleeve (6) also consist of plastic, the sleeve (6) being surrounded externally by a metal jacket (16). The core (2) and the piston (4) contain connecting elements which are preferably constructed as collars (12, 14) and permit direct connection to the pipes (13 and 15 respectively). <IMAGE>
