Abstract
According to the invention, a process for the recycling of cellulose-containing fibres, for example made of waste paper, for use in absorbent articles for medical or hygienic products, such as nappies, absorbent paddings, sanitary towels, compresses, tampons, and the like is provided. To this end, the secondary fibres are made into an aqueous suspension and treated with chemicals which break down the fibre surface, in particular disinfectants, preferably by addition of oxygen. The addition of bentonites increases the absorbency of the secondary fibres. The invention furthermore relates to the use of such recycled secondary fibres in absorbent articles for medical or hygiene products.
