An electrical machine as a DC tachometer generator, having a rotor, supporting an armature winding, and a stator with permanent magnet excitation, having one or more permanent magnet poles of the stator which are formed in each case from a number of separate magnet elements in such a manner that the magnetic pole strength of the permanent magnet and/or the rated voltage of the machine correspond to the number of magnet elements used. <IMAGE>
