Abstract

The element consists of a flexible tab (10) having a substantially semicircular end portion (14). To create a sealing element which can be manufactured particularly easily and is at the same time universally usable, it is proposed to design the tab (10) composed of polyisobutene, polyvinyl chloride or bitumen in a plane configuration and to provide it, in its end portion (14), with a sector-shaped recess (16) which is arranged, in the installed condition, symmetrically to the upward-projecting edge of the external corner and whose central angle (22) is 20 DEG to 60 DEG , preferably 40 DEG , whose apex (24) is rounded out and whose corners (28, 30) are rounded off. The apex radius (26) of the rounded-out portion of the apex (24) and the corner radii (32, 34) of the rounded-off portions of the corners (28, 30) lying next to the recess (16) are preferably 15 mm. The radius (36) of the end portion (14) should not be less than 70 mm, preferably greater than 100 mm. To seal an external corner, two sealing elements with oppositely arranged recesses (16) are attached, one lying above the other. <IMAGE>
