BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLANDFEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY
Tag der Anmeldung: 13. Juni 1952 Bekanntgemacht am 27. Oktober 1955Registration date: June 13, 1952. Advertised on October 27, 1955
The invention relates to cathode ray tubes of the type comprising one of separate phosphor dots or separate fluorescent lines, and methods for printing such screens.
Such luminous screens provided with dots or lines from today's three-color television tubes are usually made in such a way that the individual colors are sequentially a printing process applies.
According to an already existing proposal, a template is placed on the screen of the television tube mounted in such a way that the openings in the template are in the places where the phosphor dots are to be attached, and the corresponding phosphor is then through the Openings of the template applied through. The stencil is then removed, cleaned and brought into such a position that their openings are at the points for the second luminous color, whereupon the second type of phosphor is applied. The same is true for the third Proceed with fluorescent paint.
Das Auftreten solcher Moires beiUnfortunately, however, fluorescent screens show which are produced according to the method described are very noticeable in which stencils backed with fabric are used Moire effects. The occurrence of such moires at

There are two possible causes for umbrellas made with the stencils that have been used up to now can be attributed.
Even if the openings of this template have the same shape and the same dimensions everywhere, the color penetration is through these openings are by no means the same everywhere, but rather by the number and possibly the the mutual position of the threads determines the softness of each one
ίο einzelne T)IlHuHg begrenzen. As a result, take the separated lines when printing the luminescent screen * possibly and even usually slightly different dimensions for the same shape.
I) a the stencil openers that are used when printing Such screens are used, have the same spacing and because the threads of the used (iewebes have more or less equally large distances, the errors occur in the printed Patterns in groups and lead in the eye of the Uesehauer to the moiré Iüldung.
Fin Zweck der Erfindung besteht darin, ein zuverlässiges und einfaches Verfahren zur Verminderung der Moire-Iiildung beim Drucken von Leuchtschirnien einer bestimmten Struktur anzugeben,Fin purpose of the invention is to provide a reliable and simple method of reducing moiré when printing luminescent screens to specify a certain structure,

In addition and above all, the invention has the purpose of creating an improved color television tube, which 1. is characterized by almost complete freedom from moire effects, 2. uniform I has the brightness of the individual colors and 3. a high electron-optical resolution owns.
These and other advantages are achieved according to the invention by using a template, in which the rows of openings through which the ink passes when printing is underneath at an angle to the warp and weft threads of the metal or textile fabric * on which the template is located. As will be explained in more detail below, this angle is for to choose piuiktförniige patterns differently than for linear pattern. If the pattern is printed twice through different stencil openings, in this way one obtains an optimal reduction of the moire and provides a uniform one brightness of the colors, without the resolution of the sub-elementary color areas of the finished (ig Affect the shield.
Fig. 1 shows a perspective view of a J mat to be printed and part of the template used for printing on a carrier fabric. The stencil shows a dot pattern of openings, the rows of these openings at an acute angle to the Warp and weft threads of the fabric lie.

Fig. 4 ist eine ähnliche Darstellung wie Fig. 3, welche eine Schablone zeigt, nachdem diese aus der zweiten Drucklage entfernt ist.FIG. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 3, showing a template after it has been removed from the second printing position is removed.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a color television tube according to the invention with a multi-pinhole screen.
In the drawing, 1 denotes the glass plate of a television screen and 2 denotes a stencil made of gelatine, lacquer or the like, which is used for the printing production of a screen for cathode ray excitation which has a regular pattern. The template is attached by gluing or in some other way to a fabric or metal mesh 3, which in turn is attached to a suitable wooden or metal frame 4. The template according to FIG. 1 consists of a large number (approximately 300 per cm 2 ) of circular openings 5, which are arranged in the form of a hexagonal pattern as in a television screen proposed elsewhere. The openings 5 are spaced from 1 ^ ancl to edge not less than the diameter of a single opening, and are arranged in vertical and horizontal rows 5 "and 5" so that each opening (with the exception of the located at the edges) is surrounded by six other openings.
The invention teaches that the moiré effects, which normally occur in patterned screens that are attached to the glass plate 1 by means of a stencil, turn out to be very small if the rows 5 "and 5 & the stencil openings are at a certain angle to the chain and wefts 3 "and 3" of the fabric 3 which carries the stencil run. If, as in Fig. Ι the stencil are circular holes 5 have, the moire effect at least when the said angle is about 7 is 0. If this angle is greater than io ° and smaller than 5 0, so at point screens of the effect is larger again.
When r ig in I. 2 embodiment shown, the openings of the template 2 consist of a plurality, for. 13. from 1500 equally spaced line-like openings 5 C , which run between two opposite sides of the frame 4. This form of template is used to manufacture line screens of the type shown in FIG. 2 of U.S. Patent 1934,821. In this case, the invention teaches that the slightest moiré effects occur when the cellular stencil openings 5 C at an angle of 45 ° ± 2 ° to the warp and weft threads 3 "and 3" of the fabric 3, on the if the template 2 is located, run.
Beispielsweise kann es vorkommen, daß ein ein Punkt- oder Linienmuster aufweisender Leuchtschirm nicht au allenAlthough securing the stencil at approximately the appropriate angle to the warp and weft threads of the fabric supporting the stencil reduces the moiré effects, the screens made in this way can still use certain other I ? have flaws. For example, it can happen that a luminescent screen having a dot or line pattern does not work at all

B. in der Nähe der Peripherie einer oder mehrerer Schablonenöffnungen 5 liegen, wie in Fig. ι bei χ und x' angedeutet, oder daß gewisse Fehler in der Schablone selbstPoints or all points of the lines has the same brightness or the same optical resolution when it is excited by means of an electron beam. Such errors can either have the reason that warp or weft threads are in the so-called cover layer, ie, for example, in the vicinity of the periphery of one or more template openings 5, as indicated in Fig. Ι at χ and x ' , or that certain errors in the stencil itself
Such and similar defects can occur at various points throughout the template, either symmetrically or asymmetrically. The effect of such errors in the stencil is essentially eliminated according to the invention in that a second layer of fluorescent material or a second layer of printing ink is applied over a previously applied layer using a correspondingly displaced stencil. As indicated by the arrows in FIGS. 3 and 4, this is done simply by shifting the stencils 3, 3 by one or more points or lines in any direction with respect to the position used in the first printing process and then a second printing process in the new stencil layer can take place. If a line pattern is printed twice in this way, the stencil can also be shifted in the longitudinal direction of the lines instead of transversely to the lines. In any case, the shifting of the screen before the second printing process has the effect that a perfect stencil opening 5 (FIG. 3) comes to rest over an imperfectly printed fluorescent dot 6 (FIG. 3) on the glass plate 1. If a second phosphor application is then carried out, the previously imperfectly printed luminous point 6 is overprinted again during the second printing process and is thus given a perfect shape, as shown at 6 ″ in FIG.
Screens with such fluorescent dots or fluorescent lines including three-color screens, which were produced according to the invention are practically free of electron irradiation Moire effects and are characterized by the brightness of their colors and by their high electron-optical properties Resolution off. Fig. 5 shows such a three-color screen with a dot pattern in one Cathode ray tube with multi-hole diaphragm.
In Fig. 5, the screen denoted by 10 carries a plurality, for example 600,000 red (R), blue (B) and green (G) phosphor dots of different light colors. The points are arranged in a hexagonal pattern in groups of three, with each point surrounded by six other points. These dots are produced by means of a printing process in which each color is printed individually, namely by means of a printing screen 2, 3 according to FIG. 1, and in which furthermore the printing screen is brought into a position for printing the next color after the printing process in one color in which the stencil openings touch the previously applied fluorescent dots. There is a multi-hole screen 11 in front of the screen. This consists of a thin metal plate with 200,000 holes, ie with one hole for each of the groups of fluorescent substances consisting of three differently colored luminous points.
The fluorescent dot screen 10 and the multi-hole diaphragm 11 are here in the bulb 12 of a display tube 13 with three electron guns! shown. These are denoted by 15, 16 and 17 and are arranged in the form of an equilateral triangle around the central axis of the tube. The beam paths i5 r , i6 & and ij g intersect in the plane of the multi-pinhole diaphragm 11 and diverge again from there. Thus each ray hits a different color point. When the grids of the electron guns are supplied with different color signals and the cathode rays modulated in this way sweep over the multi-pinhole diaphragm 11, each ray forms a monochromatically colored specific image on the screen 10. These three differently colored images appear in the eye of the beholder as a single multi-colored, so-called one Additive image which, as explained above, is free of moire and also does not have the other disadvantages of the known television receiving tubes with fluorescent mosaic screens.
