Description
Es ist bekannt, daß Platten oder dergleichen Gebilde aus Barium-Titanat (BaTiO(sub)3) ebenso wie Quarze als Schallerzeuger verwendbar sind. Sie haben letzteren gegenüber u.a. sogar den Vorteil, daß sie keine so hohe Hochfrequenzspannung benötigen. Während bei Quarzen die Eigenschaft, beim Anlegen einer Hochfrequenzspannung an die sie bedeckenden Elektrodenbeläge mechanische Schwingungen auszuführen, auf dem piezo-elektrischen Effekt beruht, ist bei Barium-Titanat-Schwingern diese eigenschaft auf eine Art ferro-elektrischen Effekt zurückzuführen. Dieser Effekt zeigt sich aber erst dann, wenn der Schwinger vorher polarisiert wurde. Diese Polarisation hat man bisher in der Weise durchgeführt, daß der Barium-Titanatkörper, nachdem er auf beiden Seiten mit einem Elektrodenbelag versehen war, bei 125°C etwa 15 Minuten lang an eine Gleichspannung von etwa 400 V pro mm Dicke gelegt wurde.It is known that plates or similar structures made of barium titanate (BaTiO (sub) 3) as well as quartz can be used as sound generators. Gemäß der Erfindung wird jedoch die Polarisation bei Zimmertemperatur durchgeführt. Es hat sich nämlich gezeigt, daß hierdurch der Schall- bzw. Ultraschalleffekt größer wird. Dabei hat es sich als vorteilhaft erwiesen, die Polarisationsdauer auf etwa eine Stunde auszudehnen und die anzulegende Gleichspannung so zu wählen, daß auf jeden mm Dicke des Barium-Titanatschwingers mindestens etwa 300 V entfallen.According to the invention, however, the polarization is carried out at room temperature.
