Verfahren zur Herstellung von Diffusionsüberzügen aus Chrom auf Eisen und Stahl Es ist bereits ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von Diffusionsüberzügen aus Chrom auf Eisen und Stahl vorgeschlagen worden, bei welchem ein auf galvanischem Wege hergestellter Chromüberzug in einer Wasserstoffatmosphäre unter bestimmten Bedingungen geglüht wird. Wesentlich ist dabei, daß der Wasserstoff eine geringe Wasserdampfmenge von etwa 2 bis io°/a aufweist, praktisch frei von kohlenstoffhaltigen Verbindungen ist und daß die Glühung in Gegenwart von alkalihaltigen Verbindungen oder Metalldämpfen der Alkalimetalle durchgeführt wird. Auf diese Weise lassen sich festhaftende porenfreie und sehr bildsame Diffusionsschichten aus Chrom herstellen. Es wurde nun gefunden, daß für viele praktische Zwecke genügend bildsame Diffusionsschichten auch dann hergestellt werden können, wenn auf die Anwesenheit von alkalihaltigen Verbindungen oder Metalldämpfen der Alkalimetalle verzichtet wird. Zweckmäßigerweise wird dafür die Glühtemperatur etwas höher gewählt, beispielsweise bei etwa io5o° C, wenn bei dem Verfahren nach dem eingangs erwähnten älteren Vorschlag iooo° C angewendet werden.
