Description
Process and device for cleaning coal tar The main patent refers to a process for cleaning or preparing the coal tar for a fractional distillation, especially for a continuously fractional one Distillation in particular through flash evaporation of the low-boiling components of the tar except for a high-boiling residue and subsequent decomposition of the Dampfegemis.ches in downstream fractionation columns.
To check the chlorammonium content of the tar before flash evaporation or Reduce heating in the tube furnace to the same value that the subsequent fractionation of the vapor mixture formed in the flash evaporation carried out without interference can be, according to the invention of the main patent of the temperature of the Light liquid heated tar before being introduced into the tubular furnace of an electric Subjected to treatment with high-voltage electrical currents and the resulting from it the tar-water emulsion coagulated aqueous solution is drawn off in liquid form.
It has now been found that in the case of the electric fields the thin tar is exposed, not just on the absolute field strength arrives, which must be high in any case, but also on that the electric fields are inhomogeneous, d. H. so such fields, where the field strength is higher at certain marked points, and even better at best is considerably higher than elsewhere. The reason for this is that the water bubbles or water droplets that arise from the tar-water emulsion during of flowing through the electric fields, as a result of their electric Charge have the tendency to migrate to areas of higher electric field strengths and on the way there with other drops of water to form even larger drops to unite. But the larger the water droplets are, the easier it is for them to work in a separator from the tar connected to the electric tar handler be separated.
Inhomogeneous electric fields with great inhomogeneity can be The easiest way to produce them is to use the electrodes according to the tip-to-surface type trains. In this case there is a strong concentration of lines of force in the vicinity the tip, d. H. that is, in the vicinity of the comparatively small-area electrode instead, in the area of which the small water bubbles also merge to form larger ones Water bubbles occurs. One embodiment of the electrodes would be that one in a cylindrical, preferably vertical vessel in the axis of the cylinder an elongated rod-shaped or wire-shaped electrode attaches between two parallel plates, which, electrically connected to one another, form the counter electrode represent. Another way to create an inhomogeneous electric field, is to use one electrode as a cylinder with either closed or to form a partially open jacket and an elongated, wire-shaped Provide counter electrode in the axis of the cylinder. A preferred embodiment of the electrodes consists according to the invention in each electrode from on a ' semi-cylindrical tubes arranged in a closed circle to produce the longitudinal edges are welded together. Two similar but different Electrodes of this type with a diameter are then inserted into one another in such a way that that the edges in which two adjacent half-cylinders of an electrode collide, protrude into the cavity of a half cylinder of the counter electrode.
The field strength that is expediently used is in proportion variable within a wide range and with normal tar is between 500 and zooo volts per cm, although it should be noted that this field strength is calculated from the voltage between the electrodes divided by the distance between the both electrodes. The actual field strength in the vicinity of the small-area electrode is of course much higher. The lower limit of the field strength is caused by that the formation of the water bubbles and the migration of the bubbles to the small-area Electrode can only take place if the electrical forces have a certain exceed the amount depending on the nature of the tar. The upper bound for that electric field strength is primarily due to the fact that the formation and Movement of the water bubbles must not be too violent, otherwise, like the observations showed an explosive bursting of the water bubbles into smaller ones, thereby causing a new emulsion formation between tar and water.
Also the tar's residence time within the electric field can be changed within certain, albeit relatively narrow, limits. At the specified Field strengths are expediently the length of time the tar stays in the electric field 0.8 to 1.2 seconds, preferably about z second.
The type of electrostatic field needed to build up electrical voltage is in and of itself indifferent, i. H. it can do both DC voltage as well as AC voltage of any frequency can be used. However, to the electrolytic Keeping the effect of the electric current small is called technical alternating voltage (50 Hz) give preference.
Normally only a relatively small current flows between the electrodes during the electrical tar treatment which, together with the applied voltage , corresponds to an electrical power of about 0.3 to 0.5 kW per ton of tar passed through. Due to certain impurities in the tar, however, the conductivity of the tar can under certain circumstances be briefly changed, and indeed increased, in such a way that an electrical arc is formed between the electrodes, which could lead to considerable dangers. It has also been observed that deposits of graphite and coal dust, which are known to be contained in tar, form on the small-area electrode, which deposits gradually advance into the free space to the other electrode and can ultimately cause a short circuit. In order to avoid the dangers arising from the formation of an electrical arc or a graphite short circuit, according to the invention the electrical circuit of the power supply for the electrodes is made so that as soon as the current briefly reaches a multiple of the continuous current, this current flow through an inductive one Relay is automatically interrupted. If the cause of the sudden increase in current is an electrical arc within the tar handler, it will tear off immediately if the current is interrupted. If the cause is a so-called graphite bridge, this is immediately washed away by the tar that continues to flow after the electricity has been switched off. The interruption of the current therefore does not have to be permanent, but can be canceled again after a short time. For this purpose, it is provided according to the invention that the inductive relay, which responds to a brief strong increase in current and switches off the current, simultaneously triggers a timing relay, which in turn after a short time, for. B. a few seconds, the power automatically turns on again.
But also to have a safeguard against long-term excesses of the current that is maximally acceptable to the high-voltage transformer through the inductive relay is not detected, is according to the invention in the power supply Another thermal relay is provided for the electrodes, which, when the maximum current still permissible for the transformer exceeded for a long time is, responds and switches off the entire power supply.
The invention is explained in more detail in the figures.
Fig. 1, 2, 3 and 4 show appropriate electrode designs for the electric tar handler; Fig. 5 shows an electrical monitoring device to.
In Fig. I, which like Figs. 2, 3 and .4 a horizontal Cross-section through a vertically standing tar handler shows, that is in the form A small-area electrode formed from a stretched wire is denoted by ioi. This is located in the longitudinal axis of a cylindrical container Dead through which the preheated tar preferably flows from the bottom up, d. H. so vertically to the drawing line. The central electrode ioi is through a line 103 with a Voltage source connected. There are two on either side of the electrode ioi elongated sheets io4, which preferably have the same length as the wire-shaped Electrode ioi. These two electrodes are connected to each other by leads io5 and then connected to the other pole of the voltage source by line 1o6. The electric Field lines run between the wire-shaped electrode ioi in the middle and the plate-shaped electrodes in the manner indicated.
The electrode arrangement according to Fig. 2 is also located in the longitudinal axis of a cylindrical treatment vessel 102 is again a wire-shaped one Electrode ioi. This is surrounded by a closed cylinder io7, so that the Field lines in the form of radii run between the two electrodes. This electrode arrangement however, it is not particularly advantageous because a certain amount of tar, namely those between the outer vessel wall io2 and the cylindrical electrode 107 is present, is not treated electrically. To get around this deficiency, the electrode arrangement according to Fig. 3 is expediently designed so that the large-area Electrode not as a closed cylinder, but as a cylinder io8 with is formed partially open jacket. With the turbulent flow of tar within the treatment vessel, tar components are then also treated electrically, which do not flow in the immediate area between the two electrodes. These Arrangement also has the advantage that this results in a particularly strong inhomogeneity Field forms, as the field lines show. A preferred embodiment of the electrode design shows the Fig. 4. The outer electrode pulled, which at the same time the outer boundary of the The treatment vessel consists of a number of approximately semicircular cylinders, which are welded to one another at the longitudinal edges i io. In the same way the inner electrode i i i is formed, only with the difference that they are welded Long edges are directed outwards. The two self-contained electrodes are now nested so that the welded edges of one electrode protrude into the cavity of a half cylinder of the other electrode. You get such a large number of tip-to-surface type electrode assemblies; in In the embodiment shown, there are, for example, 12. This electrode arrangement is suitable for relatively large amounts of tar with a comparatively small footprint to manage something.
The circuit of the power supply for the tea handler according to the invention is shown in Fig. 5 in a simplified form. The tar flows through line toi via valve 2o2 into the tar handler 203 and leaves it via valve 2o4 through line 205. The two electrodes 2o6 and 207 of the tar handler are connected to the high-voltage winding 2o8 of the transformer Zog. Appropriately, one electrode, namely the outer one, is connected to earth. The primary winding 2io of the transformer Zog is connected to the voltage source 211. In the course of the power supply 212 to the transformer Zog, there are initially two switches 2i3 and 21.I which, as indicated schematically by the line 215, can only be switched on when the valves 2o2 and 2o4 are on flow. This is to prevent electrical currents from flowing through the tar handler as long as the tar is not flowing. In the course of the line 2i2 there are a thermal relay 216, an inductive relay 2,7 and a further switch 218. The thermal relay 216 responds when the maximum current permissible for the transformer Zog is exceeded for a long time and then switches off the switch 218 via a contactor Zig . The thermal relay 216 can be turned on again by a push button switch 22o. The inductive relay 217 responds to brief current surges of considerable current strength and then also switches off the switch 218 via the contactor Zig. As soon as the inductive relay 2 i 7 has responded, a timing relay 221 is set in motion, which reacts on the relay 217 after a certain time and switches the switch 218 on again via the contactor Zig.
