Die Schneeschutzwand wird zweckmäfsig aus lothrechten Platten α zusammengesetzt, welche aus einem wetterbeständigen Baumaterial gefertigt sind. Einerseits gewähren diese Oeffnungen dem Wind freien Durchtritt und andererseits wird bei eintretendem Schneetreiben der' Schnee gegen die schrägen Wandungen dieser Oeffnungen getrieben, wobei derselbe leicht an den Wandungen haften bleibt und die Oeffnungen in kurzer Zeit verstopft. Bei starkem Sturm, wird also dem Wind nicht die ganze Fläche geboten, so dafs die Wand bedeutend dünner gebaut sein darf als eine volle. Bei beginnenden Schneeverwehungen füllen sich jedoch die keilförmigen Oeffnungen sehr bald, so dafs die Wand als eine volle zur Geltung kommt und die Schneemassen wirkungsvoll zurückhält. Bei nachfolgendem Thauwetter hat die warme Luft nicht nur an der Aufsenfläche der Schneemasse Zutritt, sondern auch durch die Oeffnungen e der Wand, so dafs der Schnee sehr bald abschmelzen kann.The snow protection wall is expediently composed of perpendicular plates α , which are made of a weather-resistant building material.
