Description

Glasuren.Process for the production of crystalline shimmering enamel coatings in the manner of chrome aventurine glasses or glazes on objects made of metal, in particular Iron, The invention relates to a process for the production of crystalline shimmering enamel coatings in the style of .Chrome aventurine glasses or glazes.

It is known that one relatively large by melting Quantities of chromium oxide in glass and slow cooling of the melt or tempering of the glass a crystalline, shimmering glass with a peculiar effect can. The appearance of such so-called chrome Aventu # r'ing glasses, which are larger Enjoying popularity is based on the fact that the chromium oxide dissolved in the glass when it melts when the molten glass cools down or the glass is tempered again in the form of crystals separates and that these crystals penetrate the glass in fine distribution. In In the same way as with glass, the chromium-Aventwringlas effect can also be found in ceramic Glazes. Achieve, in which the firing. The glaze a relatively long cooling time follows. For the production of chrome A.ventwTing glasses or glazes commercial amorphous or finely crystalline chromium oxide is used. At han: delsüblich The crystals of finely crystalline chromium oxide are so small that they can be seen with the naked eye are no longer perceptible.

The achievement of the chrome aventurine glass effect in enamel coatings Metal objects, especially iron objects, have so far not been successful. Of the The reason for this was seen in that the enameled objects Cool down very quickly after burning, @ s.o that the time for formation and excretion of chromium oxide crystals in the enamel is not sufficient. Therefore, there is also one Tempering of enamelled objects is left out of consideration, on the manufacture of Enamelling with chrome aventurine glass effect has been dispensed with so far.

It has now been found that enamel coatings with a crystalline shimmer can also be used in the manner of chrome aventuTing glasses or glazes obtained by placing in an unclouded Enamel glaze when grinding or after grinding grave-grained or coarsely crystalline Bring chromium oxide to the distribution, whereupon the ground in a known manner with water Glaze is applied, dried, baked and allowed to cool. These Effect is surprising insofar as coarse-grained or coarsely crystalline chromium oxide, that is melted when the glaze is fired, it was not to be expected that it has a different effect than the commercially available amorphous or finely crystalline chromium oxide would evoke. In fact, however, the chromium aventurine glass effect occurs when it is used of coarse-grained or coarsely crystalline chromium oxide in the enamel glaze, while it does not occur with the addition of commercially available amorphous or finely crystalline chromium oxide. Coarsely crystalline or coarse-grained chromium oxide is difficult to manufacture and provides therefore it is not a commercially available product. However, there are a number of procedures Its production is known - in tests carried out, it became coarsely crystalline Chromium oxide of an unclouded enamel glaze at the end of the grinding process on the mill in an amount of a olo, based on the dry glaze, added. The well-known Way with the addition of water ground glaze was applied in the usual way, burned in and cooled. The finished enamel coating had the appearance of the familiar Chrome aventuTing glasses. The addition of chromium oxide can depend on the desired effect between o, i to 4%. Over 4 additional additions can be disregarded be left.
