Process for the production of N; N'-Dichlorazodicarbonamidine The Manufacture
of N, N'-dichlorazodicarbonamidine H2 N (N Cl) C N = N C (N Cl) N.H2 has been carried out so far
by oxidation of azodicarbonamidine or hydrazodicarbonamidine with hypochlorite
or from guanidine nitrate by conversion to nitroguanidine, reduction to aminoguanidine
and oxidation with Na O Cl to N, N'-dichloroazodicarbonamidine. These manufacturing methods
were, however, quite cumbersome and therefore found little entry into the Pfaxis.
More recently it has also been proposed to use guanidine nitrate .directly
oxidize with hypochlorite to N, N'-dichloroazodicarbonamidine, but the yield is
unsatisfactory with this method. It has now been found that, surprisingly
in a simple manner and with good yields of N, N'-dichloroazodicarbonamidine from in -der
Technically accessible substances, namely dicyandiamide or the alkaline earth salts
of the cyanamide and ammonium salts of inorganic acids can be prepared by
this heated to temperatures between zzo to 17o ° and after cooling the reaction mixture
and adding water to the solution at a pH of 5 to 6.5, preferably 5.5
to 6, mixed with sodium chloride solution with stirring.
Arbeitet man z.
The yield of N, N'-dichloroazodicarbonamidine is as before
was found, to a large extent, from compliance with the stated pH value
addicted.
It is about 8o to 9o%. Do you work z. B. at a pH value below 5, so decreases
the yield below 50 0/0. This is all the more surprising than in the case of manufacture
of N, N'-dichloroazodicarbonamidine from guanidine nitrate under the same conditions
(p11 value 5 to 6.5) yields of only 42 to 45% can be achieved.
As ammonium salts are in particular for "the present process
Ammonium chloride and ammonium nitrate suitable, while of the alkaline earth salts of the
Cyanamide is preferred to calcium cyanamide.
Beispiel i i ioo g Dicyandfamid (technisch 95%ig) und 1337 g Ammoniumchlorid; (Verhältnis
The process is carried out in such a way that the mixture of
Starting components by heating, converted into a melt and for a while
is kept in this state. The temperatures required for this are. from
the choice of the starting components and are between iio and 170 °. That
Mixture is then cooled, added with water and added to the solution after adjustment

Form separates. The latter is then separated off and dried in the usual way.
Example i 100 g of dicyandfamide (technically 95%) and 1337 g of ammonium chloride; (Relationship
1 :: 2) are mixed briefly and quickly heated to 15o to 16o ° in an open flask.
The mixture itself melts at 9o to 95 °. It will still be? / 2 hour at
Tempered 16o °, then cooled to 80 ° and the flask added finitely 9 liters of water.
The melt goes into solution, a small residue or a cloudiness of the solution
has no effect on the chlorination. The contents of the flask are cooled to + 5 °
and adjusted to a pH of 5.5 with a few drops of sulfuric acid (D. 1.175).
13 l of sodium hydroxide solution are then added with vigorous stirring and further cooling
slowly added with a chlorine content of 160 g / l. During the addition of the sodium chloride solution
the pH value is constantly monitored and an increase is achieved by the slow addition of
Sulfuric acid (D.1,175) avoided. If everything is entered, it will be another 1/2 hour
stirred and left to stand at ö ° to crystallize. The N, N'-dichloroazodicarbonamidine
separates in a flaky, microcrystalline form. It is dried at 5o to 6o °.
