The subject of the invention is suitable for protecting human teeth from caries formation and its consequences, as well as preventing the disappearance of the gums and jaw bone. The subject of the invention achieves this effect with its appropriate design, which enables it to provide a friction massage that has a revitalizing effect on the organs that keep the masticatory mechanism healthy.
Präparate in Verkehr gebracht. Diese können in vier Gruppen aufgeteilt werden:Numerous devices and preparations have already been put on the market for cleaning teeth and massaging gums. These can be divided into four groups:
1. Zahnbürsten (herkömmliche oder mit elektrischem Vibrator verbundene)1. Toothbrushes (conventional or connected to electric vibrator)
2. Mundduschen (mit elektrisch hergestellten oder hydraulischem Druck)2. Oral irrigators (with electrically generated or hydraulic pressure)
3. Pneumatische Zahnfleischmassage-Geräte 3. Pneumatic gum massage devices
4. Chemikalienhaitige Präparate (wie Zahnpasten, Mundwasser)4. Preparations containing chemicals (such as toothpaste, mouthwash)
Toothbrushes , both conventional and electric, are only suitable for cleaning the enamel surface of tooth crowns. They cannot be used to massage the gums because the bristle surface of the brush adjusts to the curvature of the gums as it moves over them. This effect has its advantages when cleaning plaque from teeth because the adjustment to the tooth surface also enables the plaque in the gaps between the teeth to be cleaned off. However, massage of the gums is prevented because the mucous membrane is only rubbed without pressure being exerted on it. Another disadvantage of toothbrushes is that they are only elastic when new. Another disadvantage is that spores, which are omnipresent in the air, can easily settle in the bristles of toothbrushes that are usually kept in dark places (in an artificially lit bathroom or in a small box) and are stored wet after use. The toothbrush is difficult to clean, as a small amount of decaying organic matter removed from the teeth always sticks to it, creating a real breeding ground for bacteria. If the gums are injured by rubbing with the toothbrush - which is often the case with gum disease - the bacteria that have settled there can enter the bloodstream. Loose bristles can also cause discomfort.
2. Mundduschen. Oral irrigators . These devices also do not allow you to exert enough pressure on the gums. Since the water jet only touches the gums at one point, it must be applied to all points of the gums. The water jet must reach the gums from close up and fairly vertically, which is almost impossible with the molars. Another disadvantage is that the water that collects in the mouth during use must be drained or constantly spat out. This is why oral irrigators usually require a second person (dentist) and can be used for cleaning the spaces between teeth rather than for massaging the gums.
3. Pneumatische Zahnfleisch-Massierer.
Pneumatic gum massagers . There are two types. One is a rubber bag that hugs the upper and lower gums, into which air can be pumped using a connected rubber hose and rubber ball, which presses the wall of the rubber bag against the gums. The wall of the rubber bag is relaxed when the air is released. The rhythmic alternation of pressure and relaxation should promote blood circulation in the gums. A disadvantage of such
The advantage of this type of massager is that the air pumped into the bag is distributed over a large surface area, the pressure acts not only on the gums but also on the tongue and lips, and therefore the effective pressure on the gums is small. Another disadvantage is that the rubber bags have to be adapted to the different dentures and therefore have to be manufactured in a variety of sizes. Another type of pneumatic gum massager is a series of suction cups attached to a toothbrush-like handle, which is pressed onto the gums in such a way that the air is squeezed out of the suction cups; then the device is lifted off the gums. The vacuum thus created should increase the blood flow to the gums. The disadvantage of this device is that it is difficult to use. If no vacuum is created in the suction cups - for example because they are not perfectly seated - the device is ineffective; but if a vacuum is created, the suction effect can be so strong that the thin mucous membrane of the gums bleeds.
Furthermore, the gums cannot be massaged in the most important places, namely the gum line at the neck of the teeth. Here, air penetrates the suction cups through the gaps between the teeth, which prevents the pneumatic effect.
Preparations containing chemicals . Toothpastes and mouthwashes are often supplemented with fluoride to prevent caries formation. The caries-inhibiting effect of fluoride
Toothpastes and mouthwashes containing ammonia and chlorophyll have a destructive effect on acid-producing bacteria, but their anti-caries effect is also doubtful. Mouthwashes based on medicinal plants can stop bleeding gums for a while with their pore-constricting effect, but they have no healing effect on either the gums or the teeth.
The function of the object of the invention is based on the knowledge that humans previously had such a natural protective mechanism that could ward off attacks directed against the teeth, as well as on the hypothesis that today's civilized humanity still has a vestigial form of this protective mechanism, but that its function can be reactivated with suitable devices. During food intake, the teeth perform a swaying, so-called "hourglass" movement. The periodontal membrane (desmodont) is a connective tissue ligament system located between the root cement and the alveolar bone that connects the tooth to the jawbone in a flexible manner. It allows the tooth to move slightly in any direction. Individual fiber bundles, the so-called Sharpey fibers, run radially and also tangentially from the root to the alveolar wall. They are combined into thick bundles that cross over and intertwine. Between the intertwined Sharpey fibers there are gaps for blood vessels and nerves, as well as for an extensive lymphatic system. As a result of the fluctuating movement of the teeth, the Sharpey fibers move in a springy manner, which activates the entire vascular and nervous system, thereby promoting blood circulation and metabolism in the tooth socket.
The subject of the invention not only eliminates the disadvantages of the devices produced so far, described in points 1-4, but also has several advantages over them. The subject of the invention can simulate the former chewing mechanism or bring about the effect of this mechanism. The use of the subject of the invention mobilizes the body's own defenses, sets in motion the function of the natural mechanism, which is itself capable of warding off tooth, gum and periodontal diseases. The use of the subject of the invention simulates the former way of chewing in humans, which could keep the defense mechanism active.
Figur 1 zeigt mögliche Ausführungen des Erfindungsgegenstandes, a/ Mit Griff Vorderansicht; b/ Mit Griff - Hinteransicht; c/ Mit Griff - Längsschnitt; d/ Ohne Figure 1 shows possible embodiments of the subject matter of the invention, a/ With handle - front view; b/ With handle - rear view; c/ With handle - longitudinal section; d/ Without
Handle, version that can be pulled onto the finger (thimble). On the surface of a hard, elastic pad (1) there are knobs (2) and/or ridges (3) made of the same material. The knobs or ridges are designed to dig into the spaces between the teeth when the object is moved on the surface of the teeth using the handle (4) or finger under pressure, thus causing the individual teeth to move. The movement of the teeth causes an alternating tension-relaxation of the Sharpey fibers, which then triggers the defense mechanism mentioned (see Fig. 2). The powerful pressure and friction massage of the nubs and grooves on the crown of the tooth, on the gums and on the cheek mucosa complement the internal effect, imitating the pressing and frictional effect of bony, cartilaginous, tough, fibrous food. For a more beneficial effect, the elastic pad can also be made arched to fit the teeth (c). A sponge insert can also be inserted into the elastic pad for medicinal brushing of the gums.
Figure 2 shows the mechanism of action of the invention when a tooth is cut. The nubs of the invention (Fig.1/No.2), clinging to the crown (2) of the teeth in the tooth socket (1), move the crown of the tooth, while the tooth root (3) moves in opposite directions (hourglass movement). As a result, the tension of the Sharpey fibers (5) of the periodontal membrane changes. This alternating tension-relaxation then increases the circulation of the vessels (6) interwoven in the loose connective tissue, as well as the metabolism of the tooth (2-3) and the gums (7). At the same time, the nerve fibers (8) lying between the Sharpey fibers are activated. This process increases saliva production and, through the pulp nerves, initiates the formation of the necessary stimulating dentin. The strong pressing friction of the invention on the gums increases the blood flow to the gums, making the internally triggered defense mechanism even more effective. The defense mechanism thus reactivated keeps the teeth, gums and jaw bones healthy.
Further advantages of the invention: prevention of gum recession in the case of gums that do not participate in the chewing process under bridge dentures, delaying the degeneration of the jaw bone in people wearing full dentures, by supplementing the reduced chewing pressure. Another advantage of the device is its easy care and use, even for children and older people, as it consists of a single piece, is simple and long-lasting, easy to disinfect and can be boiled.
