GolfballGolf ball

Da pro Golfplatz jährlich ca. 5000 abgenutzte Golfballe anfallen, entstehen hierbei ganz erhebliche Mengen solchen Sondermülls. All high-quality golf balls known to date have a core that is made from a cross-linked elastomer that cannot be melted down using a casting process. This elastomer guarantees a high level of rebound elasticity of the ball, i.e. the rapid recovery of the round ball shape after the mechanical stress caused by the ball being hit, which is crucial for achieving a great flight distance. On the other hand, due to this elastomer core, the balls known to date cannot be recycled and must be disposed of as hazardous waste after they have worn out. Since around 5,000 worn golf balls are produced per golf course every year, this creates very significant amounts of such hazardous waste.

The aim of the present invention is to create a golf ball that avoids the above-mentioned disadvantages while maintaining equally good playing characteristics.

Im Gegensatz zu Elastomeren bestehen zwischen den Einzelmolekülketten keinerlei Querverbin-The task is solved by a golf ball which is characterized according to the invention in that it is made of a recyclable thermoplastic elastomer. Conventional thermoplastics consist of long, parallel molecular chains and can be melted down and reprocessed again after processing into a final product. In contrast to elastomers, there are no cross-links between the individual molecular chains.

Der Druck liegt dabei zweckmäßigerweise unter der Endklarlackierung, so daß er gut gegen Abnützung geschützt ist.fertilize, whereby the rebound elasticity of a thermoplastic is much lower than that of an elastomer, whose cross-linked structure with a large number of cross-links is the cause of a high rebound elasticity. Conventional thermoplastics are therefore not suitable for the production of golf balls. In the newly developed golf ball made of a thermoplastic elastomer, however, the advantages of the cross-linked elastomer with its high rebound elasticity and the good recyclability of a thermoplastic material can be combined, so that overall a ball with excellent playing properties and problem-free recyclability is produced. The ball can be manufactured using an injection molding process. To achieve particularly high-quality golf balls, it is advantageous to form the ball from a core with a thin coating layer, for example made of an ionomer. After the core has been sprayed, the thin coating layer can be sprayed onto it. To ensure that the entire ball is recyclable, it is important to ensure that the core and the cover material can be melted during the recycling process. The golf ball can also be made in one piece and made from a thermoplastic elastomer recyclate. The recyclate can be obtained, for example, by grinding and melting two-piece golf balls according to the invention. It is also possible to melt and reprocess the one-piece golf ball several times. The playing properties of the one-piece golf ball are somewhat less good than those of the two-piece golf ball. They are therefore primarily intended for practice. The surface of the balls can be printed in color and clear-coated, which allows the balls to be individually designed, for example by printing customer logos. The print is conveniently located under the final clear coat so that it is well protected against wear.
