State of the art:

Metal profile picture frame strips usually have an asymmetrically designed U-profile in the area where the picture carrier material is held, the narrower, visible front profile lip of which prevents the picture carrier material from falling out of the frame.

This profile lip, which is visible on the front, is often shaped differently for stylistic reasons and thus shapes the overall visual effect of the finished picture frame.

The wider, rear lip of the asymmetrical U-profile also serves to hold the image carrier material, as well as an abutment for the compression springs that press the image carrier material against the front profile lip and lock it in place.

Behind the wider profile lip of the asymmetrically shaped U-profile, the shaft-shaped mounting profile is connected, which accommodates the screwable corner angle plates, pressure plates and suspension devices.

The side profiles can, in contrast to the straight form, often be supplemented or replaced by curved hollow profiles, which usually only fulfil optical and sometimes static functions.

This type of metal picture frame has the advantage over wooden picture frames that it can be assembled quickly, effortlessly and simply - but still stable and safe - and the picture carrier material can be inserted without any problem.

It is just as simple and easy to remove the picture carrier material again and replace it with another one by loosening and removing just one frame leg.

The serious disadvantages of these metal picture frames, compared to wooden picture frames, lie in the relatively limited color and profile variations, and therefore in the reluctant acceptance by consumers.

HPLZ book frames offer the outstanding advantages of almost unlimited color and profile variations and, as a result, significantly higher acceptance among consumers.

The disadvantages of the wooden picture frame are the more complex and difficult technical handling due to the nature of the material.

The corner joints must be glued or tacked with metal spring clips and/or additionally glued - if necessary, wooden triangles must be glued on or metal angles must be screwed on to achieve sufficient stability.

However, these corner joints generally cannot be separated or removed without damaging the material.

Wooden picture frames usually have a fold to accommodate the picture support material. In contrast to the U-profile of the metal picture frames, the fold of the wooden picture frames is open at the back.

The image carrier material must be inserted into the fold from the back and then secured against falling out by means of technical manipulation.

This is labor- and material-intensive.

The reversible effort is proportional, whereby the fastening material often cannot be reused.

The fastenings of the hanging device on the wooden picture frame are rigid and, however, more complicated to install than on the metal picture frame.

The qualitative assessment of both molding systems with regard to conservation framing, up to museum requirements, concerns the criteria of the respective user and from this point of view is not taken into account here.

Problem:

The invention specified in claims 1 and 2 is based on the problem of creating picture frames that simply combine the technical advantages of metal profile picture frames with the design advantages of wooden profile picture frames and largely exclude the disadvantages of both profile strip systems.

Solution:

This problem is solved with the features listed in claims 1 and 2.

Benefits achieved:

The invention ensures that the firmly connected profile strip systems are processed and worked on together as a material unit.

In this connection, form a U-profile to accommodate the image carrier material.

The ease of metal picture frame processing and finishing ensures that the optical appearance of a wooden picture frame is created.

Further design:

With the connection between metal and wooden profile strips, in the rebate or in the groove of the latter, the height of the U-profile created by the connection can be varied.

This means that image carrier materials of different strengths or thicknesses can be inserted.
