This must be done either on the music or television device itself, or with the help of a remote control. However, unlike telephones, which are located either by their cable connection or by a charging station for the transmitter battery, a remote control is rarely always in the same place that can be found quickly. Therefore, when a call comes in, you first have to laboriously search for the remote control, or you may have to turn off the television, stereo system, etc. to silence it. Both are disadvantageous.

The invention is therefore based on the task of solving this problem in a user-friendly way, so that one can make telephone calls from any place in the home without being disturbed by background noise.

According to the invention, this is achieved by a device acting on a remote control sensor of a television set and controlled by the dial pad for controlling the functions of the television set. The same is conceivable if stereo systems or the like are equipped with remote control sensors.

After picking up the phone, which is easy to find simply because it is ringing, the television can now be turned down to quiet mode or put on standby.

A solution in which the portable telephone communicates with a telephone base station, for example, via an infrared frequency, and also switches the television sensor, is particularly simple and allows the telephone base station to turn the television volume down if the portable telephone is unable to do so due to its position (covered).

A base station and a portable telephone that only communicates with the base station are located in any room in the home.
