Intraoral eines Patientenmundes plazierbarer Sensor zur Erstellung von Zahn-/Kieferaufnahmen eines PatientenSensor that can be placed intraorally in a patient’s mouth to create dental/jaw images of a patient
The invention relates to a sensor that can be placed intraorally in a patient's mouth for creating dental/jaw images of a patient, with a narrow, usually rectangular housing for accommodating an image sensor and a control board associated with it, to which various lines of a connecting cable are connected, which can be connected with its free end to an image processing unit.
Such intraoral sensors are known, for example, from the publications entitled "VISUALIX the new way to take dental X-rays" by Philips Medical Systems and "SENS-A-RAY a revolution in dental radiography" by Regam Medical Systems AB 1. In these known versions, the connecting cable either exits from the front of the narrower side wall of the housing or at a right angle to it on the rear wall of the housing.
Both versions have disadvantages with regard to the positioning of the sensor in the patient's oral cavity, especially if you want to take pictures in the front teeth area or in the back molar area. On the one hand, the cable routing is uncomfortable or annoying for the patient when he wants to position the sensor on the tooth to be recorded; on the other hand, it can easily happen that the connecting cable leading out of the patient's mouth is kinked in an unacceptable way.

The invention defined in claim 1 is based on the object of creating an improvement thereto.
Because the cable exits at an angle to the longitudinal plane of the housing or the sensor plane in the specified angle range, which is preferably between 40 and 60, the sensor is optimally positioned for almost all tooth images. The housing is advantageously provided with a convex curvature at the cable exit point, which can be formed by a cap molded onto the housing. This makes it very easy to accommodate the connecting cables without the overall housing having to be structurally enlarged. The curvature also serves as a positioning aid for the patient when placing the sensor on the tooth to be imaged. It is particularly advantageous if the curvature is provided with a concave finger recess.
Further advantages will become apparent from the following description of an embodiment.
The figure shows a side view and partially in section of an embodiment of the intraoral sensor according to the invention. In a housing 1 that is approximately rectangular in plan view, an image sensor (CCD sensor) not shown in the figure is housed, which is connected in a suitable manner to a control board 2. Lines 3 end on the control board 2, which contains various electronic components not specified in more detail. These are led out of the housing 1 in a connecting cable designated 4 and, as explained at the beginning, lead to an image processing unit (not shown).

The cable exit of the connecting cable 4 is at the rear wall of the housing 1 at an angle oC > which is between 30 and 60° to the longitudinal plane of the housing. As can be seen from the illustration, the housing 1 contains a convex curvature in the area of the cable exit, which is formed by a cap 5 molded onto the housing. The cap 5 is divided transversely at the point marked 6. The connecting cable 4 is held in the lower cap part 5a in a strain-relieving manner, with the connecting cable and the cable ends being glued to the cap in a watertight manner. Both cap parts are also connected to one another in a watertight manner during final assembly.
20Although the convex curvature is already a good positioning aid for the patient when placing the sensor on the tooth to be recorded, it can be advantageous to provide a concave finger recess 7 in the upper cap part 5b, as shown in dashed lines in the figure. 20
