CRITICISM OF THE STATE OF THE ART The invention relates to the cleaning of interdental spaces using commercially available dental floss.

The efficiency of dental floss for cleaning between teeth is undisputedly high. Accordingly, there are 3 basic types of dental floss:

1. unwaxed, smooth dental floss

2. waxed, smooth dental floss

3. waxed, rhythmically thickened dental floss. The manufacturers take into account the different types of interdental spaces.

The dental floss is wrapped around one finger of the right and one finger of the left hand and then stretched between the hands. The dental floss is then guided into the spaces between the teeth in the mouth. (Source: self-produced market analysis)

Cleaning the teeth with dental floss in the manner described above is very difficult and uncomfortable to slightly painful in the molar area, as the hands are often larger than the mouth can open. The individual anatomical limits often do not allow the desired cleaning quality for the back teeth. In addition, the fingers can grip the dental floss more poorly in the back area and at the same time

The invention is based on the object of eliminating the above-mentioned disadvantages in the conventional use of dental floss and of creating a dental floss instrument which is simple to manufacture and safe in its operation, as well as being highly stable.

This goal is achieved by a) all elements of the instrument (1,2,3,4,5) being made of high-strength polyamide and b) by their respective functions being able to stretch and fix standard dental floss (see: drawings/instructions for use!).

A preferred embodiment is characterized in claim ii).

The drawings and the instructions for use adequately illustrate the subject matter of the invention in terms of its shape and function (attachment of the dental floss).

The dental floss instrument (1,2,3,4,5) is made of polyamide, whereby the components (3,4) have a socket at the rear end into which the similarly shaped plugs of the components (4,5) fit (with their function the two ends of the dental floss can be attached to the instrument under tension).

Constantly tight tension and fixation of commercially available dental floss. Product-wise, it is a perfect fit and easy to manufacture (injection molding). This means low costs.

The polyamide material is scratch-proof and resistant to oral fluids (BASF Product Advice, Ludwigshafen). The slim dental floss instrument, with a bracket that is positioned orthogonally to the handle's longitudinal axis at the front, allows for much easier, more comfortable and clearer cleaning of the spaces between teeth.

i) Dental instrument for cleaning between teeth using commercially available dental floss. CHARACTERIZING PART GENERATIVE TERM OF THE FIRST SUB-CLAIM characterized, ■ that it is made entirely of high-strength plastic and the handle element (1,2,3) has a socket at the rear end into which a plug with socket (4) fits, into which in turn an end plug (5) fits.
