Description
Arrangement for measuring electrical resistances The measurement more real Resistors with alternating currents above the audio frequency become cumbersome and difficult, as soon as it is required that the actual measuring circuit with a flexible cable can be connected to the DUT and the condition is placed that the Arrangement a very large measuring range, z. B. from five to seven powers of ten, should have; even the otherwise well-proven bridge circuits are above 50 ooo Hz can only be used with great difficulty and with a limited measuring range, because the production of the necessary comparison standards with increasing frequency becomes more and more difficult.
The present invention seeks to overcome the disadvantages of the known methods to avoid. The invention relates to an arrangement for measuring electrical resistances or conductivities using frequencies above the audio frequency. the Invention is that a resistance meter with a on relatively small resistances on the order of magnitude of the characteristic impedance of high-frequency cables limited measuring range is used with a flexible, shielded high-frequency cable is connected to the DUT via a resistance transformation network, its ohmic resistance through said network in the measuring range of said Resistance measuring device is transformed. That to connect this measuring device Cable used with the test object should be short of a quarter of the wavelength used so that quasi-stationary conditions can be expected. That the The end of the cable facing away from the measuring device is connected to a network, which Resistances, those outside the measuring range of the resistance meter are transformed so that they can be measured with the measuring device. One Such a measuring arrangement solves the difficult question of comparison standards, since they are ohmic Resistances in the order of magnitude of the wave resistance of common connecting cables can still be easily manufactured.
I bis 7 dargestellter Schemata beschrieben. The invention is based on several in Figs. I to 7 shown Schemes described.
Die Abb. I zeigt den prinzipiellen Aufbau einer erfindungsgemäßen Meßanordnung. xDarin bezeichnen I das Widerstandsmeßgerät, 2 das flexible (geschirmte) Verbindungskabel, 3 das Transformationsnetzwerk und 4 den zu messenden Widerstand. Fig. I shows the basic structure of an inventive Measuring arrangement. x where I denote the resistance measuring device, 2 the flexible (shielded) Connection cable, 3 the transformation network and 4 the resistance to be measured.
As a measuring device 1, all known Wo'der stand measuring devices such. B. Resistance measuring bridges can be used. But it's especially beneficial for that to use the generator circuit shown in FIG. The tube works in it 5 as a Huth-Kühn generator. From the self-induction 7, the capacitor 8 and the resistance g existing lattice oscillation circuit is caused by the inductive component the anode transformer 10 excited to vibrate via the grid anode capacitance 6, the amplitude of which makes the rectifier II and the damping circuit I2 worse the measuring instrument 13 is measured. It is advantageous to use a screen grid tube as the tube to be used, so that the capacitance 6 practically through the entire effective grid anode capacitance is pictured. In the interests of constancy, it is also advantageous to change the circuit to operate with a highly stabilized supply voltage, such that the The anode voltage and the heating voltage come from the same source. The resistance 9 is so large that the circuit is only excited to oscillate when the Resistance g either via cable 2 or directly smaller ohmic resistances can be connected in parallel. Those resistors that increase when connected in parallel g cause a readable rash on the measuring instrument 13, determine the Measuring range. The beginning of the measuring range, i.e. H. the highest resistance that still can be measured is mainly due to the setting of 6 while the end of the measuring range, d. H. the smallest resistance still to be measured, and with it the extent or steepness of the measuring range due to the sensitivity of the measuring instrument I3 or the size of the damping of 12 is determined. This circuit is a matter of course just a particularly simple example of such oscillating circuits.
Fig. 3). The behavior of such circuits is best described by the so-called Resistance characteristic described, d. H. a curve showing the scale division of the measuring instrument I3 as a function of the resistor 9 connected in parallel Represents resistances (see. Fig. 3).
With the help of the general theory of circuits it is possible to the network for resistance transformation, n has to calculate given properties1 -As soon as the task is given, after which the network should be a quadrupole, which one the resistor 4, connected to its output terminals, is transformed in such a way that the size of the transformed resistance appearing at the input terminals falls within the measuring range of resistance measuring device I.
The matching transformer is usually used to adjust the resistance. This means can also be used here if you have no special requirements to the accuracy. It is also very difficult to make matching transformers to build with the extremely large gear ratios for high frequencies. It in particular, it is not possible to parallel the size of the transformed resistance precalculate switched reactive components precisely and on the size of the test object 4 to make it independent.
One is alsp when using this closest method again dependent on calibrations, for which in general no standards are available are.
The demands placed on a usable transformation network are to be asked, boil down to the fact that in the event that a reactive component of the transformed resistance or the transformed conductance arises, this Reactive component in any case depends on the size of the test object and thus of the transformed one Resistance should be independent. In this case, the reactive component can either be calibrated or compensated by the conjugated component.
The circuits shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 can be used for the invention to serve. In addition to the circuits, the transformed resistor is in parallel with the switched reactance shown the voting condition is on the arrow noted. One need not even assume for the calculation that the inductance be lossless; the capacitors can be used at the current state of the art run practically lossless.
The loss resistance of the inductance can, as the circuit is at constant frequency is used, are always represented as series resistance, so that one is at. limit the calculation to lossless switching elements may and the inevitable losses in the implementation by a Take into account the series resistance of the size of the loss resistance of the inductance can.
In the following, L means an inductance, C one across the line lying capacitance and X a capacitance lying in the course of the I line. The load resistance with the reference numeral 4 is denoted by R in the formulas.
If one calculates the conductance of the circuit loaded with the DUT 4, how it is measured from the input terminals connected to the cable, so one finds that he meets the above requirements for two excellent votes corresponds to: if one makes co L = I / Ct) C in the circuit according to Fig. 4, the input conductance represented by an inductance independent of the size of the test object and a resistor connected in parallel, which reverses the size of the test object is proportional.
If, on the other hand, rn L = Iho (C + K), then the input conductance becomes represented by a capacitor independent of 4 and a capacitor connected in parallel to it Resistance, the size of which is directly proportional to 4. In the circuit according to Fig. 5 there are similar conditions, only the coordination does not lead to o L = IIO K a resistance transformation.
As a result of the independence of the transformed resistance in parallel switched susceptibility values, it is possible to pass through the susceptibility values that occur Parallel connection of the conjugate susceptance value to the input terminals of the network to render harmless; this creates a parallel resonance, the conductance of which is opposite that of the transformed resistance disappears. An example of this is given in Fig. 7th
The circuit according to FIG. 6 gives the indication for the construction of switchable Transformation Networks. In this case, it is preferable that the one given by w L = Ihi (C + K) marked second adjustment position. In this case behaves the network like a capacitor of size C (; + C / K) to which a resistance of of size R: (1 + C / K) 2 is connected in parallel. So it is possible through different Distribution of the constant total capacity (C + K) to the partial amounts C and K whole Different values of the expression relevant for the transformation (I + Cit) 2 to manufacture. All you have to do is divide the voting capacity into different parts to split (kot, K2, K3), which by a switch either to position C or K of FIG. 4 can be brought.
What is described here, in general, can be particularly advantageous Applicable method of resistance measurement to determine the electrolytic Use conductivity of liquids. The conductivity measurement with high frequency Alternating currents have the advantage that the low frequency leads to the electrodes imposing requirements in terms of their size and surface properties no longer need to be fulfilled. Suffice it to be short, closely spaced, bare ones To use metal wires, and you can even capacitively transmit the measuring current and thus completely dispense with electrodes immersed in the liquid. It is just make sure that in each case the conductivity of the to be measured Liquid so large or the frequency of the alternating current used for the measurement must be so small that the line flow flowing in the liquid is very large against the displacement current flowing through the liquid between the electrodes will. With these measurements, the switchability of the transformation network is crucial of particular advantage because of the conductivity range to be examined in general extends over at least seven powers of ten. Even with electrodeless measurement the measuring range can be switched in the manner described above, only is at the same time the transmission capacity which is then always available, via which the capacitive feed of the measuring current takes place, to be included in the magnitude of K.
